Rating: Summary: Truly the greatest book on dispensational truth ever written Review: I purchased this book as a first year bible college student and became amazed with its clarity and content. The detail was tremendous and the charts and diagrams so simple to understand and follow. A must for every true student of the Bible.
Rating: Summary: Pointing to past history Review: I read most of Larkin's books shortly after I became a Christian. After a few years and some more study I noticed that the dispensational theology of the past is not the same as today. This book helps one to be better acquainted with the dispensational theology of the past. Past dispensationalists in their effort to combat liberalism were still tied to the immediate philosophy of the day. Past dispensationalism is very much tied to German rationalism. Today's dispensationalists are moving away from that particular philosophy. Dispensationalists hold up their theology as being from God and that all scripture can be interpreted through its lens. Scripture must only be interpreted in light of its historical background not a man-made theolgical system that is constantly changing. Clarence Larkin provides a good link to the past. Reading his books have helped me to better understand dispensational theology from the time he lived. As you read this book realize that there are several viewpoints under the umbrella of dispensational theology.

Rating: Summary: The Greatest Biblical Sholar Who Ever Lived Review: Larkin is the grandaddy of all pre-millenial teachers, pastors, writers, etc. What they know they learned from him.He is definitive;he did the groundwork for every prophetic expositer after him.Larkin taght the return of Israel to Palestine, the restoration of the throne of David to Jesus Christ, the pre-tribulation rapture, the rebuilt temple. Larkin knew things that are completely hidden to Hebrew and Greek scholars. If a man has Dispensational Truth,he is better prepared to teach the Bible than any Ph.D who doesn't believe the Authorized Version is the Holy Scriptures. Buy a copy today.Buy one for a friend.I've had mine for twenty five years.Next to my bible,it is the greatest book I own.
Rating: Summary: Great detail Review: Larkin was an immense intellect. There is a quaint notion that Dispensational theology began with John Nelson Darby and the Plymouth Brethren. This is not true. While he was the one who is largely responsible for popularizing it, this literal view of Scripture goes back to the antenicene fathers, and even the New Testament itself (see, Luke 4:16-21; cf. Isaiah 61:1-2). It is clear that Jesus (with my tongue only partially in cheek) was what we might call Dispensational. While Larkin was among the most extreme form of Dispensational, it was the result of his analytic mind. All things were taken to their logical conclusions, even if not explicitly stated by the Bible itself. This is most evidently seen in his type/antitype references. While his conclusions are not necessarily false, and I would be the last to say that Larkin was wrong, the book does entertain some eisegetical ideas that a scholar or layman alike might find unwarranted. All said, however, this book is a treasure. His charts and graphs that aid in understanding the chronology and mechanics of Biblical prophecy are astounding (many of which you can find in close representation in Tim Laheye's Prophecy Study Bible). He was a gifted mind, and his work of the Dispensational view of Scripture can be considered one of the most comprehensive bedrocks upon which our present understanding of Dispensational theology, as a whole, is understood.

Rating: Summary: Great insight backed by 30 years of study Review: Larkin's book on dispensational truth is insightful and deep (truly "meat" versus "milk"). He presents each step or topic in a clear and simple fashion and then provides numerous scriptures every step of the way. His incredibly detailed drawings are works of art in an of themselves. If you're serious, and want more than just someones opinion, then this book will give you what your seek.

Rating: Summary: Next to the Bible itself, the most informative book I own! Review: The best book in print for understanding dispensationalism, end time prophecies, and the difference between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. The charts are invaluable. Worth twice as much; you won't be disappointed. If you don't like it, contact me and I'll buy it from you!
Rating: Summary: The most powerfull indepth study I have ever read Review: This book is a must for anyone who wants to have their questions answered with very precise biblical facts on such subjects as: creation, restoration, where did demons come from, what all do we know about angels, what is a pre-adamic race, the end of time, the kingdom of God and mans relationship to it, Christ, Satan, Heaven, bible maps, prophecy maps in great detail. This book is not for the narrow minded. I recommend this book to everyone. Rev. Rickey Honea
