Rating: Summary: Applicable Review for Christian Reader Review: Although it is well written, I was quite surprized at the content of most of the book because a Christian man recommended this book to me and what I read was obviously not Christ-centered. It is new age self-actualization and for the most part in diametric opposition to the characteristic of self-expenditure taught by the Bible. There's lots of warm and fuzzy ozone phrases that might make one happy temporarily but in the end there is no foundation.
Rating: Summary: Good book filled with great prayers you can give to MOM! Review: I gave my copy to my mother, Magdalena. Great book for filling your soul up with awesome prayer and enlightenment.Different prayers for different circumstances. This book is very good as is other Williamson books.
Rating: Summary: Would you like a warm hearted friend to pray with? Review: I have the CD of Illuminata: A Return to Prayer. I listen when I'm driving first in the morning and then again in the evening. Slow drivers who stop at green lights, pushy rude people, their comments, road rage and traffic all seem so small and insignificant. I bought the book, sometime later, from an Amazon used book seller. Sometimes I just want to lay in bed and ponder over how to pray to God for a particular situation. When I am troubled, resentful or ungrateful, I feel like Marianne is right there praying with me. I can hear her voice without the CD. My first tape by Marianne Williamson, Return to Love, was given to me, passed on by a person I had not met before. I had not heard of her or her books. I listened to the tape in the car, on the way home. I heard exactly what I need to hear. When I got home 60 Minutes, featuring Marrianne Williamson was on tv. This was the beginning of healing for me. I have purchased many of her tapes since that night in 1991.
Rating: Summary: Very good! Review: I love the wording of the prayers. I feel that the book hits very deep and close to home. Williamson wrote several ceremonies in the book, and I used her wedding ceremony, and felt it fit exactly what I was trying to say to my husband. I feel her book helped me to see the light inside myself, making Illuminata to be a very prophetic title.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: I love this book. I read it before going to bed. Marianne Williamson is a beautiful spirit and her prayers reflect that.

Rating: Summary: A great spiritual resource... Review: I own this book and have given it as a gift...it's just, purely, a great spiritual resource for those seeking a prayerful connection with the divine. Williamson offers prayers for just about every circumstance, both personal and societal, that people can face. There are even prayers for the nation, and for reconciliation of historical and political problems. The other good thing is this book addresses the divine but not in a way that would seem biased...people with a variety of spiritual backgrounds would find solace from this book.
Rating: Summary: This author is amazing! Review: I read this prayer about opening up to love in a relationship and that opened my eyes and heart to what I misunderstood in my marriage to a wonderful person. I have great respect for Marianne for her enlightment throughout the whole book. I hope that she brings joy to others as she has done for me in my first year of marriage. Kristi
Rating: Summary: Calming and Beautiful Review: I was always taught not to "recite" prayers, but that really isn't a problem with this book of prayers. Sometimes I read them for the comfort, or say them aloud to ask them of God. I especially liked the ceremonial prayers in the book. It seems a minister could use this as a reference book. And the "Prayer for Amends to the African American" and "Prayer for Amends to the Native American" are both wonderful prayers that all of us should say. Marianne Williamson is true greatness.
Rating: Summary: A Beacon of Light and Love Review: I was truly moved by Marianne Williamson's words. Her call to connect with our own hearts to pray, and to bring forth love in order to save humanity from destroying ourselves moved me, and I am sure will move you. We are at a critical point, where many realize that we cannot fight external forces to bring peace to humanity, we have to BE the force by bringing forth love and truth from within our own selves. No matter what your religion, spiritual preference, ideology, or beliefs, connect in whatever way you feel most comfortable, in whatever way you choose, to bring yourself the indwelling peace you wish to see in others. It is only by doing that that we will see peace on Earth. The prayers in this book are truly beautiful, and as Marianne says "create your own" if you want to. I Highly recommend this book for the positive, heartfelt and beautiful influence it will have in your life. Barbara Rose, author of, 'Individual Power' and 'If God Was Like Man'
