Rating: Summary: Less Than I Expected... Review: I bought this book primarily for the CD-based regression session. I was quite disappointed. The entire CD consists of one track that lasts just short of 22 minutes.During the session, Dr.Weiss used only the most lightweight hypnotic induction techniques on this CD and had a tendency to rush through them. So, the depth of focus is not really adequate for deep recall. Furthermore, Dr.Weiss spent almost no time at all exploring the other-life setting: "Find another life, look at your shoes, look at your clothes, do you remember dying? -- okay, time to wake up." The whole 22-minute session felt more like a group demonstration during a public lecture on reincarnation. Very disappointing.
Rating: Summary: I DARE YOU TO EXPERIENCE THIS! Review: I have never experienced such fulfillment as I did when I read, and experienced the exercises in Brian Weiss' his new book, Mirrors of Time. It's such an incredible compilation of exercies, and they have changed my life. I'm so thankful for this book, and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who wants to live the best life possible, THIS TIME. The chapter on transforming relationships should be printed and handed out on every street corner. Thank you Brian, for such a great gift!
Rating: Summary: Past Life Regression Review: I love working with the CD that is included in Dr. Weiss' book Mirrors of Time. Not only is the CD for regression work, but their is a beautiful healing section within the regression. As a sufferer of Fibromyalgia, I found this CD to be very refreshing, and well worth the price of the book alone. I hope you enjoy it as I do.

Rating: Summary: REGRESSION THERAPY - NOT ALWAYS WITHOUT EMOTIONAL PAIN Review: Regression therapy is a useful psychological tool used to help one heal; however, depending on the situation, going back in time and revisiting one's past can evoke overwhelming memories which can be extremely painful to resurrect. As a counsellor, regression therapy is not a form of therapy I would recommend every individual attempt to undertake on their own. It is a form of therapy generally used under professional guidance. While the author indicates that over time, the "symptoms diminish", for some individuals, the symptoms can get a whole lot worse before they even begin to diminish, particularly in the case of past traumatic events, such as childhood abuse. While I agree with the author's philosophy in principle, the book is really far too short (less than one hundred pages) on a complex subject to be of significant benefit, and for that reason it is not a book I would recommend to anyone with a serious problem. If we could magically resolve and come to terms with past events by reading a book of 92 pages, how beautiful life would be. I give the author three stars for explaining the value and importance of regression therapy as a means of dealing with emotional issues. However, the book also loses three stars because it gives the impression regression therapy is little more than a simple self-administered process, and by "flipping the emotional switch" one is instantly freed from the trials, burdens and tribulations of their past. In reality, there is no instant cure, and the process of serious regression therapy is not quite as effortless, simple and pain-free as the book implies.
Rating: Summary: nothing new Review: The book is a short anecdotal treatise on regression philosophy. The CD is 20 minutes long and is basically a relaxation script. Caveat emptor.

Rating: Summary: What about current events....? Review: The difficulty I have with Dr. Weiss's book is that it makes a large assumption and applies it to all people. The book assumes that past difficulties are the cause of current pain. However, what if current difficulties are the cause of current pain? There is no suggested means of first discovering when the cause of the pain occurred. As a result, it may be ongoing and in the present. If this is the case, regression therapy cannot help. This is an essential distinction which I wish Dr. Weiss recognized and addressed. Furthermore, the idea of 'past difficulties' subtly places current pain outside the realm of personal responsibility. What I mean is, if karma has been damaged by one's self there appears to be a certain level or responsibility included in that. More specifically, if a person makes bad moral decisions that may be the cause of the damage. As a result, if poor moral decisions continue then karma continues to be damaged. This is an area I wish Dr. Weiss addressed instead of making the cause always external and thereby doing away with personal fault/responsiblity. The techniques expressed in this book have also been described as 'karma transformation exercises'. Belief that individuals have the ability to transform karma is highly speculative. Just because individuals may be guilty of committing actions which harm karma does not necessarily mean those individuals are capable of reversing those effects. As a result, an external source of healing must be sought. In short, the real key to avoiding current pain does not seem to be the recommendations of Dr. Weiss, but rather a real and right discovery of objective truth.....followed by adaptation in the form of right behavior. If violation of moral principles is where guilt comes from (the source) then is seems this is a better place to start. Now the question becomes which worldview provides the most reasonable explanation of moral law? I know many people cringe at this idea because it invokes accountability. This isn't a popular theme - especially in the new-age movement. However, if God exists, and is the source of morality -- damage of karma is a violation against God.
Rating: Summary: Easy to read and valuable Review: This is a book I would reccomend to everybody who are interested in meditation and past lives regression. Short, easy to read, summarizes very well Dr's Weiss mind set.
