Summary: If you never believed before, ... you will now!
Review: My wife and I had the pleasure of listening to David's on-air interview with 'Mark and Brian' of 95.5FM KLOS on Friday October 31st. David's command of English and a very intriguing voice made even the 'duo of rascals' keep quiet and allow this man to enthrall us with partial contents of "Ghosts of the Northeast". I am on the way to the bookstore after I sign off to purchase what I hope is already on audio-tape with David as the storyteller. He is very informative, witty, and perfectly spoken. If his book is half as good as his on-air persona, he would not only be a major success on any speaking tour he so chooses, but the public would demand his written works continue (if not already). Buy this book, ... be informed and entertained at the same time - a rarity these days!

Summary: college ghost stories
Review: Of interest to me was the chapter concerning the ghosts reported to be present in the various colleges throughout the Northeast (including New York). As in Dead Poet's Society, these stories reminded me that others' lives (their struggles, dreams, and loves won & lost)happened in the spaces in which we live now.

Summary: Christian Sermons Disguised As Ghost Stories
Review: This collection of "true" ghost stories from the northeast of the U.S. covers such topics as Military Ghosts, Ghosts On Stage, Haunted Things, Restaurant Ghosts, etc. Some of the stories are a bit chilling, but not scarey. The detail of the backround of each story is impressive; the author obviously did his homework. However, he makes many religious references, to the point where I thought perhaps I wandered into church during a sermon. In the last line of the book, the end of the Afterword, he quotes a line from a film: "It's said, Boris, that when science finally peers over the crest of the mountain, it will find that religion has been sitting there all along."
There is too much of this stuff in this book. He tries to make each story have a heart-warming ending with a hope that the restless ghost has "found the Light." His Christian message is loud and clear. The only problem is that number one, I'm not Christian, and number two, I read ghost stories to be SCARED, not to feel like I just watched an episode of "Highway to Heaven." (Nothing against that show, but I'm sure you know what I mean).

For real scares and chills, skip this book.

P.S. Has anyone else noticed the mistake in the illustration on page 121? If you look closely at the two men in the cart, the man on the right has an extra hand on his left knee!

Summary: One of the Best!
Review: This is one of the best true ghost books that I've ever read, and I've read many. I would rank it high in my top ten. I thrilled to every page and had a terrible time trying to put it down even when my husband begged me to turn off the light and go to sleep. The information was presented concisely and deliciously, and I savored every chilling drop. But it gets better still as this is no book that you're apt to read in a single sitting and wonder what it was that you just ingested. This is a bounty of numerous spooky tales that will hold you enthralled with enough terrifying entertainment for a feast.

Most of the stories are even accompanied by photos, a rarity in ghost books, which helps the reader visualize the haunts.

In all, I can't recommend this book highly enough to ghost story enthusiasts who're looking for a good read and a bedtime chill. You'll gladly devour this book and wish you had more!
