Rating: Summary: Learning to recieve the truth Review: Mental telepathy is one of those subjects, like the weather, that almost always carries with it an automatic interest on the part of those who encounter it on an almost daily basis. Our tendency to pick up telepathic signals from those we meet in the course of an average day, as well as the transmissions we consciously or unconsciously beam into the minds of others, sometimes blend into the fabric of our mundane existence with almost no recognition that anything out of the ordinary is happening. At other times, however, there is a jolting truth to be learned or reconfirmed in the telepathic process, and one's sense of reality can be quickly jarred loose from its familiar moorings. The ability to navigate the treacherous waters of interpersonal telepathy is only one of the many aspects of the subject dealt with by Tuella in her impressive overview, "Cosmic Telepaty." For the most part, the author focuses her attention on cultivating contact with the higher realms by means of voice transmissions to the receptive human mind, and a great deal of the text lays the groundwork for facilitating that contact. Varioius kinds of mental and physical purification as well as learning basic meditation skills must precede the novice's first attempts to achieve the desired communion with the spirits of light. Tuella's beliefs about just who those spirits of light really are runs the gamut from the kindly Space Brothers first popularized by George Adamski and others in the 1950s to the Heavenly messengers of a brand of Gnostic Christianity that also takes in the writings of the Apostle Paul, the Psalms of the Old Testament and the Book of Revelation. There is a form of Christ himself present in all of us, Tuella preaches, and learning to recognize that core of goodness in ourselves and every other individual is a crucial step on the Heavenly Path. It is an accepted fact of of UFO abduction research that telepathy is nearly always utilized in the typical abduction scenario. The aliens not only communicate telepathically with the abductee, theya also seem able to read even the most hidden parts of the human mind with complete ease. In that sense, "Cosmic Telepathy" may function as a kind of "Contactee's Handbook," spelling out as plainly as possible the dynamics of telepathic contact and the skills one must learn in order to get the most out of the experience. There are even a few diagrams of the human brain that seek to explain just what parts of the brain are activated in the various stages of receptiveness to the cosmic messages that the typical adept will go through. Tuella repeatedly cautions that the beginner to be patient in follwing the meditation and listening techniques she details. The ultimate goal is to hear the voices of the aforementioned benevolent spirits of light and thereby join a team of human Light Workers laboring hand-in-hand to establish Christ's kingdom of heaven on Earth. One wonders however whether those voices are the kind that never shut up and leave one wandering the street pushing a shopping cart? Not so, counters Tuella. She includes some spiritual exercises designed to keep the practitioner from the dark influences of evil spirits and even from fellow mortals who are overwhelmed by infectious, negative emotions. The final chapter of Tuella's "Cosmic Telepathy" is an inspiring pep talk about walking in spiritual victory that even the most jaded reader of New Age literature will find uplifting and encouraging. Learning to literally "hear" the small, still voice of cosmic common sense and wisdom is a skill that anyone would find useful--given that they are opened up to it in the right way and actually able to master it in practical terms. If Tuella manages to lead the reader to even a small portion of that bliss and peace she says is available to all, then "Cosmic Telepathy" is more than worth its purchase price and the time spent in reading it.
