Rating: Summary: An enjoyable, easy read. Review: First of all, for those that complain about Chris' writing, he states right away that his is more of a "free-form" style and some people may not like it, so be aware. I enjoyed his take on life with Sylvia and I think he presents himself as a very interesting strong person and he does keep the ego under control, realizing as his mother does that these gifts come from God and are not to be abused. It is not his intent to go in depth about clients or the world issues and I think he does a great job here talking about his life with Sylvia. Any Sylvia fans will enjoy this book for some fun light reading. I did.
Rating: Summary: Insider's take on Sylvia Browne Review: I am a big fan of Sylvia Browne so I purchased this book out of curiosity. I am fascinated by "the gift" that runs in this family. This book is very interesting and gives readers an insiders point of view about Sylvia the person, rather than just Sylvia the psychic.
Since Sylvia's books are all written in first person, it was nice to learn about her personality from another person's viewpoint. I read this book from cover to cover in one long evening. By reading about Chris' relationship with his mom, wife and family (including his psychic daughter, Angelia), I identified with their very deep love for each other. After I finsihed reading the book, I thanked God for giving me such a wonderful family.
My life with Sylvia Browne, is a heartwarming collection of stories filled with laughs and interesting insights about the world's most trusted psychic. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to get to know Sylvia Browne on a more personal level.
Rating: Summary: Not at all what I thought it would be Review: I am a huge fan of Sylvia Browne, and I truely enjoy all of her books. I find her life very exciting and inspiring. I really thought this book by her son would give me even more insight to Sylvia and her life, but it hasn't. I received the book the day it was published, and now two months later, I still haven't finished it. Chris' information may be good, but his writing style has a lot to be desired. There is too much subject-skipping. When I read it, I feel that I'm not "going anywhere" with the information. Fragmented... that's a good word for it, and unfortunately, it just didn't hold my interest like I had hoped. My advice: Stick to the books written by Sylvia.
Rating: Summary: A very good author Review: I enjoyed reading Chris's book about his mother and his life. I was so inspired my his book and what it offered. It's as though the spirit come out from every word and wraps around you like a hug. Keep on writing Chris, you are a wonderful author.
Rating: Summary: My Life with Sylvia Browne Review: I enjoyed this book so much I could not put it down.I think Chris did a wonderful job of showing Sylvia as a mother,(and a good one at that.}I could relate very well to all the situations and trials of their lives. The love he shows for his family just surrounds you as you read. GOOD JOB CHRIS,I look forward to reading another book by you. This one lifted my spirits and let my soul soar.
Rating: Summary: DELIGHTFUL, LIGHTHEARTED, DOWN TO EARTH Review: I loved the style in which this book was written. It was as if Chris and I were talking over coffee about his mom and family. He gave some insights on being raised by Syliva. He tells of his on going struggle with people who expect him to fill his mother's shoes. When I read the last page I realized...yes Sylvia Browne is his mother but Chris is a gifted physic in his own right.
Rating: Summary: Very enoyable - if taken for what it really is Review: I must admit that I was slightly put off when I began reading this book. I could see that the book really didn't contain any psychic insight, no earth-shattering predictions of the future, or give any "dirt" on the lives of Sylvia Browne or any other famous people. Fortunately, before disappointment hit me, I realized that I was reading exactly what the title offered. It is a book written very simply by a first-time author; a true man's man who grew up (and currently lives) in a very unique situation. Like all of us, he has tried his best to make the most of it, with a great deal of love and humility. I highly recommend this book to any fan of Sylvia Browne who has grown to love her and admire her. I have felt very close to this amazing woman even without knowing her, and Chris Dufresne has made me feel like part of their wonderful family while giving me insight on my own. Take this book for what it is: loving words from a real person, sharing his life with a wonderful mother and relating the lessons he has learned throughout. This is the kind of book that any one of us can write, and it is definitely just as special.
Rating: Summary: "My Life with Sylvia Browne" Review: I purchased this book and had read it from cover to cover by the end of the same day. It was very will written and I enjoyed every part of it. I could relate to many aspects Chris wrote about and to me that made it very interesting and very enjoyable. It's about a celebrity family that's as close to normal as it gets...Well with the exception of having physic's as family members! I recommend it and hope you will too.......
Rating: Summary: not that good Review: I think this book was okay. There were some funny parts, and I have to say that I did grow to like and admire Chris. But all in all, I was dissapointed. It was boring and I am one of those reviewers that didn't like the style he wrote it in. He was repeatative, like when he mentioned a million times about his and his moms tempure. I would love to have a reading with him and would never question his abilities, but it just wasn't a really good book.
Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful work. Review: If you are looking for a good book about Sylvia Browne- this is not the one for you! I guess I was hoping for a few more stories from his childhood. I understand that Chris is a first time author- but I found his writing hard to read bouncing from subject to subject. I also felt that he told a lot of the same stories that I have read in some of his mother's books. If you want some good reading stick with Sylvia.
