Rating: Summary: A Deeply Moving Book and a Good Read Review: This is a very meaningful book to me. I too am Jewish with a Zen background. I began Zen meditation at San Francisco Zen Center in 1967, and continue meditation practice though not as formal. The author has a gift of speaking from his heart with the richness of his spiritual journey. His book is written with openness and an easy to read style. This makes it easy to see how Zen experiences flow into meditation which doesn't have to take place in a formal Zen setting to enrich people's lives in Jewish settings and beyond. Alan Lew, thank you for writing this book.
Rating: Summary: An interesting Jewish East meets West journey Review: While I liked Rabbi Lew's book as a light read of his spiritual journey, I feel rather unimpacted by his work. For someone who has developed a conscious eye to the wonder of his life, I am surprised he didnt go farther in explaining the significance of his journey. More importantly, I wonder if the Rabbi appreciates how much he has to offer those of us who wish to learn more about finding spirituality in Jewish religion. While I dont question Rabbi Lew's faith, the book leaves me unimpacted which may be his point after all--you just cant find answers to spiritual questions reading about someone eles's life.
