Summary: An excellent Bible to give to the unsaved/new believer.
Review: Actually, this edition doesn't include Genesis, or anything else from the Old Testament (other than Psalms and Proverbs).

My problem with it (the translation, not the lack of OT, obviously) is that it feels a little dumbed down. Sometimes it doesn't even get the correct meaning across. It was a valiant effort, though... Try the New Internation Version, Today's English Version, New Jerusalem Bible (my favorite), etc.

Summary: A great Bible for any Christian!
Review: I love this Bible. The size is great -- it is so thin that it is easy to keep it at hand (but it still contains the Psalms and Proverbs)! I had heard how the great evangelist Smith Wigglesworth never considered himself fully dressed if he did not have a copy of the Bible with him. That should be our perspective on life. A Bible of this size facilitates being like that.

As well, I really like this translation. I have been a Christian my entire life, and have been able to receive a high level of education. In spite of that, I think this highly readable translation is so valuable. I was raised on the KJV. Though that translation that has a beauty and place of its own, what use is reading the Bible if it doesn't make sense? Also, what use is owning a Bible if one doesn't read it because it is too difficult to get through? I have found this translation to enhance my understanding and desire to read God's Word. Though far from perfect, this translation definitely has a good place for all Christians -- both new (to understand the Bible) as well as 'old' (to get a fresh understanding of God's Word).

Summary: An excellent Bible to give to the unsaved/new believer.
Review: The plain english verbage makes for easy understanding of God's Word. The translation and size definitely encourages the reader to read and enjoy the entire new testament whenever and wherever. While some may not agree on and/or prefer the New Living Translation, this tranlation was done by very learned groups of biblical scholars. I believe this translation really encourages everyone to read, understand, and enjoy the Bible as much today as when it was first translated from Latin to English in the Middle Ages. As a believer reads and allows the Word of God to work in his/her life, perhaps they will be led to a different translation for deeper study and enrichment.

Summary: Easy reading
Review: This pocket bible is written at an 8th grade reading level instead of a 12th so it's so much easier to understand. It's a good starting point to learn and a great companion to have when you have extra time on your hands. i.e. stuck in traffic, waiting at the Dr.s office, travel etc. I love it and recommend it to all who love to be inspired. Be well!
