Rating: Summary: Very Good But... Review: This book is an excellent refutation of the heresy of modalism and Oneness Pentecostal apologetics. While Boyd is correct in rejecting the "Jesus Only" baptism formula, his rejection of baptismal regeneration itself is quite shallow. While he uses the Fathers to demonstrate that the early church was Trinitarian he fails to discuss that they all also believed in baptismal regeneration. As such this book is flawed.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book On Oneness Pentecostals Review: This is the second work I have in my own personal library on the Oneness Movement. The other is by Carl Brumback entitled "God In Three Persons." This book offers great insights into the Oneness Movement, particularly the United Pentecostal Church. The book deals first with the doctrinal positions of the UPCI and then offers an evangelical response to the doctrines of the Oneness Movement. ... For a Pentecostal/Charismatic response to the Oneness Pentecostals see Brumback's work.

Rating: Summary: Oneness Pentecostals and the Trinity. Review: This work is so biased and nonsensical one would have to be ablind leader of the blind not to see all the errors. Boyd gives usthat he was once a Oneness Pentecostal but no one knows where he actually attended,if he was really one of us or if he just visited a few times just enough to say he was. Gregory likes the creeds, and follows them as if they are scriptures. He appears to be more of a neo-trinitarian as even many now profess from Trinitarianism. His doctrine is not in line with the average Triune godhead believers, but gives the impression he is writing defending it. His section on Oneness Ppentecostal beliefs are at least in more common agreement than some late writings by Ankerberg/Weldon and Cal Beisner whose works border on faulty stats, and a straw man attack mentality. If you want to read Boyds defense of Creedal ideas and not scriptures buy the book for there is not much substance with proofs here in these works. Matter of fact I have already seen a handy work refuting this Book (by Boyd)done by a Oneness Pentecostal Ross Dysdale who has written a online book for free "IF YOU KNOW THESE THINGS" Boyd is getting plenty of media attention ,but has not faired well in his views even amonst his supposed own kind. I believe that the most glaring problem with Gregs book is ; WHY JESUS NEVER TAUGHT ON THREE PERSONS ONE TIME. This is the crux of the matter between those who believe in truth, and those who use fallacious outside nonbiblical materials. This book should have been sub titled Creeds and Councils the Apologists view.
