Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Conservative: Thorough, Scholarly, Yet Easily Understood
Review: Good solid hermeneutics and clear presentation make this an ideal volume for the pastor, student, or serious layperson. MacArthur is not only an excellent Bible teacher, but he writes simply for popular use, yet nothing is water-down. This is a most thorough work, useful in preparing sermons, lessons, or personal growth. MacArthur interprets from a moderate dispensational viewpoint and seems to follow obejctive principle of interpretation. He brings in a generous amount of cultural and background information, as well as other Bible texts. I suggest you purchase the entire Matthew set. There is probably none finer.

Summary: Simply speaking, it's BIBLICAL!
Review: In this day and age, Christians must decern what is right and what is wrong because there are so called "pastors" in Christian churches who mis-interpret the word of God. "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." (1 John 4:12). To learn the true doctrine of God's word, I strongly recommend the John MacArthur Commentary series. I was very thankful for my understanding of the bible through this commentary. But always keep in mind that it is the Holy Spirit who leads you into understanding of his word, so seek him sincerely in humility. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (Matthew 5:6)
