Rating: Summary: a well reasoned analysis of modern American culture Review: "Occult Invasion" is a look at modern American culture from the prospective of a conservative Christian. Dave Hunt has provided a well-reasoned analysis of the causes of modern social problems through the Biblical concept of the nature of man. He also deals with the theory that man, because of his nature, will not solve our society's problems, but instead man's solutions will only worsen the problems. History is moving according to a plan designed by a specific Higher Being. Mr. Hunt spends much of the book in a concern that the movement of major religious bodies to find common ground to establish a world religion will result in a false religion that will lose its fundamental purpose. He makes a very convincing argument through a number of specific examples.Mr. Hunt's book is excellent "food-for-thought" for anyone concerned about the state of modern society and the role religion should be playing in dealing with earthly concerns.
Rating: Summary: the truth to those who can see it Review: A must read for those of you who desire to have your eyes opened to the obvious and not so obvious evils of our time.
Rating: Summary: Demonic Dave Review: I give the book two stars for only two reasons: 1. The premise of the book IS relevant. 2. The author is not afraid to speak his mind. That's about as far as I will go.
The book rapidly deteriorates from the first page onward.
The author has an obvious prejudice against ANY Christian who doesn't fully agree with his opinion. This is HIS opinion, not the Lord's. He will claim verses in the bible to support himself, but you have to ask by what AUTHORITY does this author speak? I can cite MANY people who will claim the same "authority" as he does, who will oppose his viewpoints. His "authority" is questionable.
The author is either ignorant at best or malicious at worst, regarding certain "facts" which he cites. The book is full of half-truths that would take me SEVERAL volumes to refute. It is that bad. It reminds me of what I read about the strategies of the "Enemy". The best way to deceive is to mix the truth with lies. Hunt did that quite well. To cite a FEW:
He quotes a Jesuit priest, Fr. Teilhard as the "Father of the New Age". This is to seemingly add to his argument of the Apostate Church. Teilhards teachings are considered HERETICAL and condemned by the Catholic Church. He would be considered the father of "Modernism" NOT the New Age. If anyone can claim to be a "parent" of the New Age though, that should go to Mme Blavatsky of the Theosophical Society in the 19TH century, NOT the 20th when Teilhard wrote. The author seems to deliberately mislead.
He quotes Fr. Malachi Martin, as a Roman Catholic priest. When Martin was stirring up all his controversy, he was a FORMER priest who gave several interviews in the Art Bell show. THAT should say it all to anyone one with a brain and without malice.
He accuses some Evangelical Christians of using "unbiblical" terminology in the Spiritual Warfare offensive, which too, he considers "unbiblical". I would like him to cite where the word "unbiblical" occurs as a sin in the bible. For that matter, where the words fundamentalist AND bible occur in the bible. He seems to forget "Whoever is not against us is for us", (NRSV Mark 9.40) and that our Lord sent the twelve OUT with "authority over unclean spirits" (NRSV Matt 10.1 Mark 6.7) If that is not "taking the offensive", I don't know what is.
I can sum up his book with: "Take the beam out of your own eye" and "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor". I could go on and on...
If anyone is too ignorant, lazy, stupid or prejudiced to study the deeper history of the Faith and the repercussions of TRUE apostasy and occultism in our times, this book is for you. If not, there are many other books out there that do an infinitesimally better job.
Note. Hunt claims that "true" Christians were persecuted after the "apostate" and pagan church was installed during Constantine's time. It seems that he considers himself as a member of this "true" church. I am looking forward to his official genealogy on the matter. After all, the Catholics, Orthodox and Anglicans, despite thier differences, can prove their church genealogy goes back 2000 years and give NAMES to who they suceeded. (AGAIN, for anyone who really wants to look into it.) I have a feeling the author's won't get past the printing of the "Fundamentals of the Faith", despite his delusions to the contrary. I'd like the names in his line of succesion, that go back to his "true christian martyrs" 1700 years ago. If not, then that story is a fairy tale, without basis. Feed for fools. I guess that 2000 years later, he knows BETTER than the Apostolic and early church fathers did, despite that some of them KNEW the Apostles of our Lord.
Rating: Summary: Dave Hunt lacks faith Review: I know that the writer puts himself forward as a Christian--more importantly, "the right kind of Christian"--but in fact his attacks on other religions, using falsehoods and lies (the way Satan would) show that he is actually LACKING in Christian faith. This book is sad indeed. For instance, the Dalai Lama is not considered a "God" by the Tibetan Buddhists. They "worship" him the way a Christian "worships" a great preacher or teacher--he inspires faith in those of his denomination. Dave Hunt's misinformed comments about the Dalai lama is one of MANY, MANY intentional lies in this book. If you're a real Christian--not one of "Hunt's army," but someone who actually follows the Bible--then avoid this like a plague of locusts.

Rating: Summary: Sometimes the Truth is hard to swallow Review: I was saddened to read so many attacks on Dave Hunt and "The Occult Invasion". He may be blunt, but he needs to be. Our country and world are going down the toilet quickly, and someone needs to sound a wakeup call. Mr. Hunt has done so. I know that many feel that Jesus was just a great teacher. But, there is so much more to it than that. I would encourage any and all to open your Bible to John and seek out the verse which clearly states, "you must be born again", as well as, " "no one comes to the Father, except through me". Jesus Christ was the Son of God, who came for the sins of mankind, was crucified and rose again on the third day. We ask him in to our heart, pray sincerely for forgiveness of our sins and by faith, receive it has been done. It is a gift by which we are saved. Why would anyone refuse this sacrifice? It cannot be earned by being a good person or following man-made traditions. The Bible is clear "not to add to, or take away from its word". Tragic that so many place more faith in their particular church's doctrine or tradition, than they do the Word of God. Jesus Christ was not about religion, but love. Mr. Hunt knows that, and is simply trying to tell the world a Truth they do not wish to swallow. But it is a Truth that will set them free.
Rating: Summary: A Little Compassion would not go amiss, Dave! Review: I'd love to give this book 5 stars as Dave Hunt is one of my favourite writers but the rather judgmental tone of the book won't let me! Mr Hunt is to be commended for opening people's eyes to the subtle seduction of both the world and church by the occult invasion but his tone is rather harsh. His anticatholic stance is particularly offputting. He conveniently forgets that Protestants also persecuted Catholics. Why is a Catholic life of less value than a Protestant one? I don't believe Mr Hunt believes that but he gives that impression here! Also when he has done as much to help the poor of Calcutta as Mother Teresa THEN he can criticise her!!! Yes, she did make mistakes but who doesn't? I salute him for exposing the dubious goings on in the charasmatic movement though. Having had a bad experience once with charismatics I can vouch for what he says. Still he's in danger of throwing the baby out with the bath water as there probably are genuine moves of the Holy Spirit in this movement. Again he needs to show some compassion. Indeed it's sad to see such a talented writer seemingly filled with bitterness towards people who's point of view differs from his.

Rating: Summary: the best book dave hunt had written so far Review: THis book has been a heaven's sent for me. Before I read the book, I thought that I was the only one to hold those views. I was happy to find out that he holds the same views, and that I am not alone in my convicitions. THis book is a must-read for everyone who wants to find out about the apostasy in the last days. What is going on in churches today in the name of Christ is shocking. If we love our fellow Christians as much as our Lord commands us to do, we should be informed about the apostasy so that we can teach, correct, and rebuke in love. If we do not, the Lord will hold us accountable one day. Dave Hunt's honesty in unmasking many leaders, pastors and preachers in the church is very much appreciated and needed today. God bless you, Dave, and keep up the good work!
Rating: Summary: This book is for the hard-hitting truth. Review: This book is for all Christians out there who know what the word "Christian" means. It means "follower of Christ" (or close to that). It does not mean "good person" or "person who reads the Bible" or "person who goes to church". Unless you believe that Christ died to pay for your sins YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN!!! This is a fact that many people out there just do not get. This is Dave Hunt's major premise and he is rock solid in this. Sure there are Catholics & Orthodox believers who are good people, but they are not Christians and thus they are leading people away from the true faith. Catholicism is chuck full of idolatry (the worship of the Virgin Mary) and mysticism - the fact that they believe that priests can forgive sins is a perfect example of why Catholics are not Christians. If you feel that people should go to heaven simply because "they are good people" or because "they went to church", then this is not the book for you and you will probably be angered by Dave Hunt's closed mind and mean spirit. But if you are a true believer, know that Christ died for your sins, and you want to keep yourself aware of the snares of the devil, then this is a "must read"!
