From a religious background that would often close someone off from such experiences Mr. MacNutt has maintained an open minded approach. Perhaps most revealing is the overwhelming evidence and testimonies of the people that have "rested". A recommended read for everyone who is curious about what they have seen...and felt.

Summary: A good look into the modern phenomena
Review: This book was written for Christians who don't understand what thre Lord is currently doing in the world today. Francis MacNutt does a pretty good job bringing a difficult topic to light. Why do people fall down? Why would God do something like this? What happens when people fall down? Thank God for this book. "Overcome by the Spirit" gave me an understanding of what God is doing when He causespeople to fall over. This book is a great introduction to many aspects of modern Christianity.

Summary: Awesome book about resting in the spirit!
Review: This is such an amazing book about the phenomenon of being "slain" or "overcome" in the spirit. The stories in this are truly touching, and make me wonder why anyone would say that these manifestations are caused by Satan. They truly are from God. I see they have several copies of this book above, new and used -- get it! If you're not a believer that falling is caused by God's spirit, or believe that it serves no purpose (which I once did), this book will change you. It's the only book I know of (there may be others) that is solely dedicated to resting in the Spirit... so check it out.
