Rating: Summary: The greatest of these is Love Review: To say that Love that Lasts changed my life might be slightly over-dramatizing it's impact, but I will claim that reading this book encouraged me to take a closer look at my life and how I was living it. I was forced to ask myself if I was using the gifts God gave me in my daily life; the same gifts He's graciously given all of us. The answer was a discouraging, "No." However, through scripture and biblical perspective as well as worldly examples, Jill Briscoe explains in great detail what love is and what it is not and how to use the most powerful gift God gave us in the way it was meant to be used. Many people mistakenly believe that love is only a feeling. Others believe that love is a choice. But, if you are striving toward living a christ-centered life according to the standards He has set for us, you will realize that while love can certainly be both of those things...more importantly, it is a command (John 15:12); a command that is easy to obey if you only choose to love family and friends that love you in return, but God's command doesn't give us that choice. He commands that we love everyone...even those we may perceive as unlovable (Matthew 5:44). Though you may not always feel love, you can always act love and sometimes it's through the very act of love that the feeling of love returns or is born anew. Love that Lasts will show you how to better love those you already love, how to return the love of those that love you and how to start loving those you don't. Praise to Jill Briscoe for sharing her wisdom and God's word with us to better serve Him and live our lives the way He intended us to.
