Rating: Summary: A great book for daily reflection Review: Each time my spirt is down, or I'm going through a situation, I turn to this book. I hold the book in my right hand by its spine, fan the pages with my left hand to stop at randum. The passages I've read, I have felt its deep spirtual feeling and I understand its meaning. Then I reflect on my situation and the passage fits. It helps me to understanding whats going on. It uplifts my spirit to deal with my situation. It give me insight to view my problem from a different angle. It also assures me that what I am currently going through will end. I will get through it. In my view, its a powerfull book. I have read several other books by Iyanla, even watched her talk show (sorry that went off the air), but like the bible, I keep Faith In The Valley near by.

Rating: Summary: This book will begin your healing process. Review: Each week at the end of choir rehearsal at church, the choir director brings in some sort of devotional reading to inspire us. She brought this book in and "volunteered me" to read an excerpt from it. I flipped through the pages and was so drawn into it, that I couldn't stop reading and couldn't decide which passage to read aloud to the other choir members. I loved the book so much that I had to go buy a copy for myself and also for my best friend. We both love Iyanla Vanzant now and am looking forward to purchasing more of her work. THANKS, IYANLA, FOR YOUR POSITIVELY CHARGED WORDS OF WISDOM!!!
Rating: Summary: Inspirational Review: Faith In The valley by Iyanla Vanzant is truly a book to help us on our journey toward peace. Ms. Vanzant imparts words of wisdom and encouragement. She is reminding us of some of the day to day things we take for granted. We sometimes forget to be thankful for what we have; good health, a job and a place to live. You will not regret reading this book. As Ms. vanzant writes, "What a blessing! I am so thankful" that I read this book. Go get yourself a copy of "Faith in The valley".
Rating: Summary: From livid rage to honoring my shock Review: I have been working on dealing with anger for over a year now. I have read how Jesus, the Dali Lama, and note worthy others have used compassion and forgiveness. I just couldn't seem to get there no matter how hard I prayed or tried. On healing and responsibility, Iyanla states: feel the pain, honor the shock, look for the lesson, and keep moving in a way that honors who you really are. Underneath my anger there was such shock at just how cruel other people can be when they throw their hardest rock. Honoring my shock has helped to heal my pain and relieve my anger when nothing else worked. Thank-you, Iyanla.
Rating: Summary: A spiritual first aid kit Review: My little paperback version of Iyanla Vanzant's Faith in the Valley has been used so much that it is now thoroughly dog-earred and marked up. This book has been a life saver on many rough days and the paperback version is small enough to comfortably carry around in your pocket. I have read this book straight through, as well as referred directly to the index that alphabetically lists situations and offers instant spiritual uplift. Faith in the Valley is a must have for everyone's personal library. It has certainly been my spiritual first aid kit.
Rating: Summary: Powerful, Liberating Review: Once again, Mrs. Vanzant has outdone herself. Faith in the Valley is exactly what the title implies. Iyanla seeks to help the reader shed light on life's dull situations. Iyanla writes that its okay to feel what you feel when you feel it. Don't hide your emotions; seek God; He will lead you to the truth of the situation. Know that everything no matter what happens is for the best, and move on. We have all been through, or are going through situations that may seem as if it is the end of the world. Mrs. Vanzant reminds you that if you are still breathing, functioning and waking up the next day every morning that everything is fine. In fact, everything was always all fine. Things may not always go your way, they will go God's way and God's way is always the best way. In Faith in the Valley Mrs. Vanzant puts in words what our intuition has been telling us all along, that same intuition that most of have been ignoring all along. If you are or have ever felt anger, fear, hate, resentment, confusion or any emotion that has kept you in a state besides that of peace and love, Mrs. Vanzant wants to take you on a journey toward peace. Mrs. Vanzant's message is powerful; it possesses the power of love. Mrs. Vanzant's message is liberating she urges you to seek truth. If you have ever doubted yourself, your existence, your purpose, Faith in the Valley holds a wonderful, powerful and liberating message for you.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! A must read for women of all ethnicities. Review: This book is targeted towards African-American women, but I don't believe that African-American are the only women who experience "life in the valley." This book offers healing, inspiration and guidance to all who read it
Rating: Summary: GET THIS and GIVE THIS to your favorite women:) Review: This is my FAVORITE book by Iyanla Vanzant because of: It's size(small enough for your tiny purse), its lack of preach-i-ness and how the index is organized by subject. I feel its a synopsis of all the subjects covered in her other books. I also feel the book is applicable to women of ALL cultures. You can use it as a daily guide or you can use the index to find a subject for which you could use guidance.
