Summary: Read It , Use It, Pass It On!
Review: I found this book in a favorite local store and have used it for several years now, loaning it to many of my kindred spirit friends. This weekend, I passed it on to a student who I believe will become another Qi Gong Master in his life travels, so I've just now bought another one for myself and to share.

Dr. Liu and Paul Perry are human beings who like you and me are "made of dust and prone to err" - a favorite sayin' of an old preacher named Fiery Ira North who taught me a lot about life in a very uncommon way. This book - especially the preprint edition I owned - is not perfect, but if you practice the exercises called "the golden eight" shown here and learn just one or two new things from this book, you just may improve your life.

Chi Gong or Qi Gong is another tool for your toolbag that may resonate for you because it's simple and easy to do yet profound. Perhaps you already know that it's not so important WHAT you do to become centered in your life and balanced, it's THAT you do SOMETHING and that you do it, and do it consistently for yourself, often. Dr. Liu recommends doing the golden eight exercises daily and I agree.

The first one is a matter of waking up each day and reaching up and out with your hands (and your heart), greeting the day. It is REALLY hard to get up on the wrong side of the bed when you do just THAT ONE THING, each day.

The following seven exercises are just as simple but each have profound meanings that are simply described here for any human to follow and include sketches of the movements, like a very easy but lovely dance with life.

I've also tried several of the recipes and will tell you that it's hard to find some of the ingredients recommended here in Knoxvegas, but with a little effort and a couple of international groceries, you can do that too.

Frankly, it's not necessary to do everything suggested to find positive results from this book, but the information shared may be helpful in ways you haven't even known that you or someone you care about needed yet. Enlightening.

Summary: Good info despite pompousness
Review: This book has some interesting anecdotes and good herbal remedies and qigong exercises. I did not care at all, however, for the pretentious "I'm so modest I must be great" style the guy has. This made me suspect the credibility of his tales. And this is too bad, because qigong is all that and more.

For one thing, he claims in his book how healing should not be about money. Yet he wanted to charge my friend $300 for an appointment (and she was to travel to California to see him) and an additional $50 or more for herbs each time. This is about 5 to 6 times the prices I have seen charged elsewhere!

Also, as a young man, the doctor was so ridden with character defects that it comes as a great surprise any master would choose him as an apprentice, let alone the star pupil. He tried to steal a valuable gift that was meant for his master, he lied, and he was pompous and arrogant. His pompousness hasn't changed, so what makes me think he's changed in the other respects?

So read what you see with a grain of salt because the good doctor is not always as genuine as he claims. If you enjoy Lobsang Rampa, you'll like this guy too.

Summary: A book that I could not put down!
Review: With each page I read I felt that this could work for me. I have Lupus and I am desperately searching for a way to at least, stop the pain, and to come back to the living. This book has given me hope. I am truly amazed at the things that Dr. Liu has done in his life, but I know that it is not impossible. I do believe in miracles. I wish that I could meet him personally. Thank You Dr. Liu, the book was wonderful!
