Rating: Summary: Simply the best book there is on this topic. Review:
The title, "From Medication to Meditation," exactlypinpoints the current movement towards combining the Western science of the outer--conventional medical science--with the Eastern science of the inner, meditation. Rather than the usual "turf battles" that plague this field, here we have a truly rounded view which supports the intelligent use of the most appropriate modality for every situation. It includes fascinating insights into the current emergence of new diseases, including AIDS, the limitations of Western psychology and "therapy" in general; and chapters on euthansia, living and dying, the mind as a disease-creating mechanism, over-eating, pain, massage, the role of the healer...in fact every topical health issue is covered. And how to be healthy. As a physician, I can only say that if everybody read -- and understood -- this book, the cost of sickness to us all, in dollars and pain, would be dramatically reduced.
Rating: Summary: Stress Reduction Review: Just think of the millions and millions of dollars the world is spending to create chemicals, medicine for relaxation. Seems to be one of the most important things for people in these days. This book shows no-chemical ways to reduce stress and bring people back to a natural state of relaxation, which we have almost forgotten about.
