Summary: Reflexology or Massage?
Review: I found the book to be interesting and helpful. However, the terms 'reflexology' and 'massage' are used interchangably. NOTE: "Reflexology" is an acupressure technique applied to the feet (also hands and ears) to provide deep relaxation and reduce muscle tension; improve circulation of blood and lymph; and act as an aid to help the body to heal itself naturally. "Massage" is manipulation of the soft tissues of the body through stroking, kneading, compression, friction and vibration. The techniques shown in this book are more consistent with massage than with reflexology.
Despite this, I found the book had excellent pictures showing the different techniques with info on how to perform each accurately. I also liked how the author explained the history of Zoku Shin Do, introduced the reader to TCM concepts as well as talking about the anatomy of the feet and distortions that one may come across.
If you are looking to do some awesome foot work, whether you are a massage therapist, a reflexologist or a lay person, you will find this book to be helpful.
