Rating: Summary: The ideal astro textbook for beginners Review: Astrology is a hard science to master, which is the reason why this book is so brilliant. Grant Lewi takes a number of complex astrological concepts and converts them into something which is usable by, and useful to, the layman.Even if you know nothing about astrology, you could construct your own chart in less than 30 minutes . This book is not 100% accurate as it only takes into consideration major aspects such as the trine, sextile, opposition. square or conjunction .Also ,the moon positions might not be completely accurate. For eg. 23 january 1985 says moon in aquarius while a person born on that day might have a moon in pisces owing to latitude differences .However, the fact remains that this is an excellent start for those who want to know more about astrology considering it has tables from the year 1870 to 2050 as well as 277 aspects.

Rating: Summary: Classic astrology reference that has stood the test of time Review: Grant Lewi is probably the greatest astrology author who ever lived. His two best sellers, Heaven Knows What and Astrology for the Millions, were printed in mid-century yet aren't the least bit outdated. They remain two of the best astrology books in existence. In Heaven Knows What, Lewi does a page on every possible Sun-Moon combination, explaining how an Aries with an Aries moon differs from an Aries with a Taurus moon, etc. His readings are obviously built on his personal observations, not just on theories about what the signs are supposed to be like. They are very unique. The back section of the book explains natal aspects (Sun conjunct Mercury, etc.). As for his quick horoscope calculations, I just ignore them. If you want your chart done, get your chart done.In Astrology for the Millions, Lewi goes the more traditional route, explaining the effect of the Sun, Moon and planets in all of the signs. His unique style shines through, and he is right on target, which is why he is the best there ever was. If all astrologers were as good as Grant Lewi was, the field of astrology would be a respected field instead of being considered by most as a pseudo-science.

Rating: Summary: Simply the best astrology book ever Review: Grant Lewi Taught at Princeton. This was a brilliant man who devoted his life to finding the essential truths of astrology - in a time of great antipathy towards the practice. As a professional astrologer, I HIGHLY recommend this book for personal growth. I use it with every chart reading I do.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Review: I think that this book absolutely nails most people. It is very accurate with my chart, and I just did my girlfriend of two years chart and I wish I had done it sooner. It took me a very long time to figure out the things it could've told me along time ago. I think that it is both entertaining and useful.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for the beginner Review: The steps in the book are straight forward and extremely easy to follow. You can start doing a horoscope almost right away, and you don't need to know anything about horoscopes to do it. The resulting horoscopes from this book tend to be in detail and accurate. Horoscopes out of a newspaper are no comparison to what you'll come up with. The process of creating a horoscope with this book takes a minimal amount of time. I recommend this book for anybody interested in horoscopes.
Rating: Summary: a fountain of star knowledge Review: This is the simplest and most concise astrology book around...Lewi's insight into the interpretation of aspects is the best I've ever read. This book contains 276 aspects, and if you're a beginner, this will cover a lot of territory. There is also a list of planet placements from 1890 through 1999 if you want an easy way to cast a horoscope without having to learn all the technical intricasies...and you can dive in and do your own chart, your family and friends, as soon as you get the book. If you're a long time astrologer, what Lewi has to say hits the nail on the head and brings the meaning of each aspect to us with clarity and precision. This book is for anyone interested in the subject of what influence the heavens may have in our lives.
Rating: Summary: something more than just a cookbook Review: You will find a lot of delineations in this book: all aspects and sun-moon combinations are reviewed. But Lewi Grant goes further. He modifies his delineations according to other aspects that can be found in the natal chart. A venus-jupiter conjunction in your radix will differ if your chart has a venus-mars trine as well or a venus-mars conjunction. This is just not a textbook about two planets in aspect, but about different planets in aspect. That's the way delineations should be handled: all aspects are to be seen and interpreted as a chain. Only Lewi Grant seems to understand this....
