Rating: Summary: All Animal Lovers Review: ... will find this book an interesting read. I found it purely by accident, and am really glad I did -The stories are captivating, and I can relate to most of them. I read Laurie Conrad's "The Spiritual Life of Animals and Plants" last year, and was completely mesmerized by her free-flowing, personable style. I think anyone who has read her beautiful work will also very much enjoy "God's Messengers".
Rating: Summary: Willard Scott - NBC Today Show endorses God's Messengers Review: God's Messengers is a collection of touching and heartwrenching stories about the love that people have for the pets, and how those pets have been there to help them through the difficult times in life. Some are simple, some are deep. But what really makes the connection to the book's subtitle -- What Animals Teach Us about the Divine -- is the poem Walk Easy by Sandy Carlson. Her sense of time and space and meaning in a selection about the walking of a dog puts the book's theme into a perspective that all can comprehend. I'd like to read more of her writing. Where can I find some?
Rating: Summary: Richard Simmons has a gentle spiritual side! Who knew? Review: I love GOD'S MESSENGERS!!! I especially loved the story written by Richard Simmons which is about his mother Shirley and her two Dalmations. I never knew Richard had a spiritual bent to his outgoing public personality. Dalmations also played an important part of my life as I grew up and as with Richard's mother my emotional and physical health was better because of our dogs. We have most of Richard's exercise tapes. Now we know a different deeper side to Richard Simmons. GOD'S MESSENGERS: WHAT ANIMALS TEACH US ABOUT THE DIVINE is a must read for those who want a feel good book filled with thought provoking wonderful stories. There are many great stories but I also really liked the story about Gonzo.
Rating: Summary: Willard Scott - NBC Today Show endorses God's Messengers Review: It was treat to see Willard Scott endorse God's Messengers on the NBC Today Show last Thursday morning. He said it was a "wonderful book" plus he added that it was a book about how animals teach us about life. I read God's Messengers and totally agree with Willard's comment! Like they say -- read one story out of this book and never view our pets and other animals the same way again!
Rating: Summary: A BREATH OF HEAVENLY FRESH AIR Review: This is a beautiful collection of true stories. From Richard Simmons' dalmatians to Lynn Harper's cats, to Diana Stewart-Koster's parrot, the stories encompass uplifting moments between humans and animals. Dolphins, Cats, dogs, horses, birds bring their human friends comfort and laughter too. All of the stories are simple yet profound, and each touched my heart. My rottweiler Larry, and I really enjoyed this book together, just as Betty White of "Golden Girls," said we would. In a world of stress and challenge, this book is welcome and refreshing. Open the pages, and breathe in the heavenly fresh air of unconditional love. Reflect on the photographs of these "messengers," and the inspirational phrases which follow each story. If I could, I would give this book ten stars. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Oasis Review: This was the most wonderful animal book I have ever read! I couldn't put it down. The stories are real about real Souls who live in animal bodies. I was amazed at the variety of experiences the writers shared. I especially loved the Llama story. I'm going to look into adding a Llama to the quadrapeds I plan to have on my new farm next year.I am buying this book for everyone on my holiday gift list. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't love it. Just to flip through & look at the animal's names & pictures is really uplifting. This book is easy reading in our stressful world. It is a "feel good" book, but not overly sentimental. If just a small percentage of folks on this planet would read it, I am sure the world would be a better place to live.
