Review: Unfortunately, I disagree with the rave reviews all the other readers have given this book. I don't have any serious problems with the book as a history teacher, but as a reader, I thought the novel lacked development. The characters were contrived and flat, there were too many false starts and loose ends to the narrative, and the gratuitous attempts at sexual titillation were annoying. Seems that the author had no clear vision of what she was trying to accomplish here. There's much better historical fiction out there, so give this one a pass.
