Summary: EXPOSED
Review: "WoW" This book really opened my eyes to things I would have never thought took place in the church and more seriously the importance of maintaining a personal relationship with God. I was going through a lot, personally and had secrets of my own. It's good to find out that others have gone through similar situation and made it through. This story was so real, I can tell that the author was telling her own true story. I just want to tell the author that God is really using you. You have made a difference in my life. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Summary: Redundancy at its Best
Review: After hearing all the hype surrounding this novel I was looking forward to an enjoyable satisfying read. The catchy title and storyline added to my curiosity. Oddly enough, by the time I reached page 15, all interest had dissipated. The redundancies were so annoying and unnecessary I couldn't stand it any more.

The author simply did not give the reader enough credit. Things were reiterated every few sentences: 'So, getting back to Liberation Day', 'But let me get back to this cool, crisp summer day', 'Anyway back to the shopping trip'. All that between pages 14 and 15!! Needless to say it was quite a task to complete, but I finally did. The main charactar, Kiyah Simmons, was written to be so foolishly blind to obvious things, that she turned out to be just as annoying as the elementary writing style of this book.

Summary: THIS AUTHOR IS NOT DEBORAH SMITH, NOVELIST
Review: Beware, Amazon customers: The Rev. Deborah Smith, author of this small-press relgious novel, is NOT the well-known romance and women's fiction author, Deborah Smith, author of New York Times bestseller A PLACE TO CALL HOME, Bantam Books. Amazon has been notified but may not post any information that alerts customers to the confusion. The Rev. Smith will no doubt be very unhappy to receive angry letters from readers who purchase the racy, heathen novels of the well-established "other" Deborah Smith. Likewise, yours truly, said heathen, Deborah Smith, DOES NOT WANT TO RECEIVE angry letters from pissed-off religious folk who mistakenly bought the wrong Deb Smith novel. Dear Rev. Smith: you need to use a pen name or clearly identify yourself as "Rev. Deborah Smith" in the future. I've been publishing novels under the Deborah Smith name for nearly 20 years. Thank you.

Summary: Point of View
Review: Congratulations, Deborah Smith! The literary world continues to explode because Deborah Smith, an ordinary person, has done an extraordinary thing, by sharing her writing ability with the world. This book will keep you glued to the chair, side of the bed. But you can't put it down because you have to get busy, get set, and read quickly. You want to cheat and fast forward, to find out exactly what the secret is; but you can't because each section has got it going on!! And when you think you have finally got, Deborah Smith socks it to you again and again with more twists and turns. This book is an easy read, it holds your attention, and allows you to do absolutely nothing until you finish reading it, then it leaves you wanting more. I say, Welcome Deborah Smith into the great Literary World. There is certainly room for new authors such as you. My wish is for continued success and many more Blessings from Up High!!

This book will keep you glued to the chair, side of the bed, at your desk, when you know you should be doing those lesson plans! Summary: A Good Look
Review: Deborah Smith takes me on a rollercoaster ride with this witty tale about a scandal that takes place behind the pulpit. I read this book in one day. It's funny, heart-warming and passionate. For this to have been her first novel, she did a great job. She's well on her way. Congratulations Deborah - I just picked up the sequel "Robbed Without A Gun" and I'm looking forward to reading it. Keep up the good work, I predict you have started something new "Holy Hip Hop Fiction" You Go GIRL!!!!

Summary: disappointed at other reviews
Review: I am appalled at all the review's that had something negative to say. I feel whenever you try to put yourself out there, someone is always working with the devil to put you down. This book was a A++++++++++++++++++++ I read this book in one day. The very next day I had over one hundred people reading this book at work. Not one person had something negative to say but when is the next book. The author Deborah Smith keeps your attention at all times. It's a must read for those who are mature and a real book reader. After reading this book it made me look at ministers in a whole different way. I thank Deborah for this book, because we would never no about Mr. Leon or any other minister out there. I think all should be thankful to be warned about a man who preaches the lord's word. Anyway Congrats to you Deborah Smith this was a masterpiece. I hope to see more masterpiece's like Ministers with white collars and black secrets books from you in the near future.. Job well done.

Summary: Prayerfully offering constructive criticism
Review: I truly and sincerely pray that Rev. Smith and readers will take these words in the loving spirit with which they are delivered. The idea has such great potential, and is a story that, sadly for the modern church, needs to be told. But having said that, I must say that as an avid and voracious reader of many genres, particularly African American fiction, I am finding this book very difficult to finish. Poor grammar in the narrative, typos and/or misspellings, and an overwhelming amount of punctuation errors both in the narrative and dialogue are so terribly distracting that they are taking away from the intended message. ... There is certainly an audience for Rev. Smith's work, and I pray that her next novel displays the potential I see.

Summary: One sleepless weekend..
Review: I was given this book by my mother to read. She said I had to read this book and BOY was she right. Deborah, girl you were off the chain with the characters. I read this book in one weekend and was wanting more. This book had me wanting to find Mr. Booker (Leon) to enjoy some the finer things in life! But, in the end like the book I guess you have to decide what you really want out of life good salvation or good satisfaction. We would like to have both but sometimes that's just not happening. The one thing I can say is Kiyah didn't involve her children so they wouldn't get hurt like she did, we as adults can sometimes bounce back alittle better than our children. Sandra, was wrong for not telling Kiyah she was once one of many for Mr. Booker but she too got what she deserved (a beat down). I would like to know if Mr. Booker ever got what he deserved and what happened with Miles and Kiyah several years later.. a must read for a true reader.
