Rating: Summary: Christian Cronyism Review: "This is absolutely laughable, Would you trust a book on Christianity by Abdul bin Majeed the 2nd ? Or one on Capitalist free thinking by Carl Marx?
Rating: Summary: Great Book on Islam and Christianity. Fair and comprehensive Review: Not to many Chritians write books about Islam that are fair or flattering. That is not the case with George Braswell. His book not only gives the key historical and theological insights on Islam, but presents a short explanation that compares certain Islamic teaching with Christianity. He is neither degrading or accusatory against Islam. And that's why I like about this book. Finally, a Christian book on Islam from someone with a level head!
Rating: Summary: A good read with an interesting perspective Review: Overall, this book is extremely informative and relatively objective. The author poses 20 questions that the reader may have about Islam and how Islam deals with certain theological and social questions, then systematically attempts to show how Islam answers these questions. The outline of the book is as follows:1)Understanding Islam - This is the chapter that attempts to help non-Muslims learn of and terminate their stereotypes of Muslims. This is also where the 20 questions were given. 2) The Prophet Muhammad: The Man and His Mission 3)The Expansion of Islam -History from beginning through 20th century 4)Islamic Theology 5)Islamic Devotion 6)Islamic Institutions, Religious Authority, Sectarianism 7)Muslim Morals and Manners 8)Islamic Answers to Contemporary Issues 9)Global Islam 10)Muslims in America: A Growing Religion -Also discusses the Nation of Islam cult and its leaders 11)The Encounter between Islam and Christianity 12)Islam: Review and Preview The only negative thing I have to say about the book is that the author does not disclose to the reader his Christian faith. He sort of downplays this and it could be somewhat misleading to someone.
