Rating: Summary: Think the job is easy? Its not, but you could do it too! Review: Full of insights and touching stories of his work, "Crossing Over" beautifully illustrates the cleansing / healing power that simple words from a loved one who has passed, carries. While touching back to his past "Crossing Over" focuses on the last 4 years in the life and career of John Edward. His trials and the tribulations that surround bringing his message to a greater mass of humanity, and his words to live by...Communicate, appreciate and validate the people in our lives, past and present. His message remains forever true and valid for the lives we live, touch and have touched us. Whether you're an avid fan of John Edward, or a first time reader of his work, "Crossing Over" will touch you with stories of the personal loss, healing and love. Five stars? I'd give it more, he has taken the time to show us, the reader, the daily frustration of trying to remain true to his path, beliefs, and his guides, while facing opposition from non-believers and honoring right to hold their own set of beliefs and values. If you ever wonder, if you've always known, if you are just finding out, I recommend "Crossing Over."
Rating: Summary: Blown Away! Review: I recently came across this book at a family gathering in which my friend's grandmother handed it to me and asked me if I knew who John Edward was. Of course I answered yes, "he's the guy on sci fi", I answered. Not expecting much more than stories about "passed peoples" I starting looking through the chapters and found myself so caught up in it that I read 1/2 through it that same night. This book is so full of inspiring stories and honesty. I'll never forget the part in which he talks about how his grandmother told him, "Don't look at how far you have to go, but how far you've come". This small piece of advice nearly knocked the wind out of me with its wisdom. *I was having second thoughts about attending college and fear of not being able to do all the things I would have to in order to graduate* For anyone with the fear of being left alone in this world, this book offers wisdom and comfort to all willing to open the minds and their hearts to the un-explainable. John truly has left a lasting impression on my life. Thank you so much and God Bless you for all the blood, sweat and tears you have gone through to bring comfort to the masses.
Rating: Summary: JOHN IS VERY INTRESTING Review: I think this book was very intresting...I didnt believe in psyhics till i read this book...The reason i didnt give the book 4 stars is because it jumped around a lot...I really liked how i could learn about johns life...It described what his home life was about and his life now with a wife...I would recomend anyone to read it...
Rating: Summary: Not as good as his first book, but pleasant to read. Review: I watch John Edward's show, and I believe in him. Still, I liked his first book better than this one. Why? The first book is a biography of John Edward, whereas, this book is more of a "biography of the show." If you're going to buy this book, be sure to buy (and read) "One Last Time" first. This is more of a supplement to that earlier text.
I'm planning to buy "One Last Time" for my mother, for Christmas, but I don't think I'll buy "Crossing Over" to go with it, for mom. If she likes "One Last Time," she can get "Crossing Over" later. I recommend the same for you.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: John Edward is the most amazing person alive. His book offers unbelievable insight into his amazing powers. I was blown away! This man really talks to the dead.
I was so impressed with his book, that I took my Aunt to his show and he immediately made contact with my dead Uncle. He let us know that everything was O.K., and that his passing, although sudden, was welcome.
Even though my Aunt was never married, and I never had an Uncle, it's comforting to know that had I had one, his passing would have been welcome. Also, had I had an uncle, we would have shared some joke about a red rose, or red garment, or red car. And apparently his name would have started with a J, maybe Jeff, maybe Joe, maybe even John.
Thank you John Edward.
Rating: Summary: A Must for Any "Crossing Over" Fan Review: John Edward's personality shines through in his new book "Crossing Over: The Stories Behind the Stories." Readers of his first book, "One Last Time" will notice a bit of a shift in content. "Crossing Over" is chock-full of information about John's path into the public eye as opposed to the consecutive chapters of readings "One Last Time" contained. More importantly, it is written in a fashion that allows the reader to understand "at what price fame" and enables them to see that no matter where you are in your spiritual growth, there is always something new to learn and experience. If you have been watching "Crossing Over with John Edward" on the Sci-Fi Channel since the first episode aired, you will be familiar with many of the readings mentioned in the book and enjoy the extra background. They are distributed throughout the narrative of his journey from everyday psychic medium to his present status of world-wide acclaim which the show has brought to John and his message. This book is a MUST PURCHASE for any fan of John Edward or his show. It is full of behind the scenes information and gives a history of how "Crossing Over with John Edward" came to be. In addition, John shares his invaluable spiritual insights and infectious humorous sarcasm. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and when you get to the end you'll be looking for the new release date of his next book. If this is your first visit into the realm of John Edward's works, I recommend you purchase "One Last Time" as well and finish it before delving into his latest work. "Crossing Over" is a little heavier read due to the nature of material discussed, such as the Leon Jaroff incident and other negative media events John has been faced with. [Note from Reviewer: The March 5, 2001 issue of Time Magazine tried to pass off an article by Leon Jaroff which was an obvious plagiarism of an "Inside Edition" segment on John Edward almost word for word.]
Rating: Summary: INSIGHTFUL AND THOUGHT PROVOKING READ Review: OK SO THIS BOOK WAS NOT ONE LAST TIME - IT WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE! I FOUND CROSSING OVER - THE STORIES BEHIND THE STORIES A GREAT READ. IT GAVE WONDERFUL INSIGHT TO HOW TELEVISION SHOWS ARE PRODUCED AND WHAT IT TAKES TO GET THEM ON THE AIR, ALONG WITH THIS YOU GOT GREAT PERSONAL STORIES AND READINGS! I ENJOYED CROSSING OVER THE SHOW AND LOVED READING ABOUT ALL THE BEHIND THE SCEANS GOINGS ON! I LIKED THE FACT THAT YOU GOT TO READ ABOUT THE STAFF AND ALL THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT THIS VALUEABLE SHOW TO MILLIONS OF VIEWERS EVERYWHERE. I WISH THE SHOW HAD BEEN RENEWED!
Rating: Summary: Love is Always and Enduring Review: This book is a good and interesting read - and gives a thoughtful look into John. I like John Edward. I find him to be a little more concrete than I see with other occultists. The spirit's are more a part of our life than most people realize - It's not at all unusual to have them around. With the Lord they do watch over us. Scripture says to: "Prove all things" and "To Test The Spirits". I find this to be a good rule of thumb in exploring this kind of thing. John gives some good advice, and does bring comfort to those who are searching and grieving. I wouldn't recommend searching out occultists in the first couple years of a passing of a Loved One - It's an extremely vulnerable time in a persons life. A thoughful counselor or Support Group would be a better option. I found "The Compassionate Friends" to be a very good group and to be very helpful. All Spirits exist and belong to, and because of, the Lord - Anyone who is involved with animals can SEE in their eyes that they have a soul. The Lord brings all souls to himself after this earthly existence...They are safe and happy with him. Just because someone is a minister/priest does not mean they are automatically right. Jesus has something to say about that when he tells some of these believers/evildoers away from him.
Rating: Summary: I Loved The Book Review: This book is mostly about John Edward. I like John Edward's writing style. He is serious, witty, and honest. Getting to know him so well from his writings and his TV shows helps me to believe that he really does talk to the dead. Between James Van Praagh and John Edward, our view of life vs death is changing. I read somewhere in the 1980's that in the 21st Century the "Veil between Life and Death will fall." Reading John's book, the "veil" seems to be falling and it is falling from a young man who doesn't have the other-worldly personality. He is a very down-to-earth American young man who happens to be a psychic. Even a fuddy-duddy cynic cannot help but be impressed by John's relaying what he "sees" from the Other Side. He will have to write another book, such as his' "One Last Time" which is mostly about his "Crossing Over Readings."
Rating: Summary: Staying put by crossing over in this world. Review: This is a great book in that John discusses how the show "Crossing Over" in reality allowed him to cross over from being an unknown to a national and well respected psychic medium. John's book escapes the ordinary story line that is typical of this genre and instead moves his audience to a level that is fun filled and interesting right from the start. He candidly reflects himself as a person just like the rest of us thus making the connection between audience member and psychic medium more meaningful. By glimpsing into his world as both a psychic medium and as a human being we begin to realize that we ourselves are all connected. Perhaps this is just one reason why John's stories are always heartfelt.
