Summary: It's all about Sex
Review: Before I write my pinion on this book I must point out to the reader that I am a Freemason and therefore bias or just a simple Sex-maniac according to the author of this book.

In fact you can summarize this author opinion on freemasonry with 4 words "It's all about sex" (five words actually). I would point any industrious reader who wants to learn about Freemasonry in the direction of Albert Pike, or the numerous monitors to be bought in Amazon i.e. Duncan, Richardson.

As for the quality of this book it is simply appalling. Most of the Icons (every thing is sex related according to the author) are copied (maybe plagiary involved?) as is from sites on the Internet some with the worst quality I have seen in a book. Other are from Microsoft picture gallery bank (most infantile I mast add).

If I could return a book for its poor unsatisfactory quality that would be the one.

Regards, Moshe Shanon, "Alumim" Lodge No. 58 Israel.

Summary: First Rate Rubbish
Review: Cathy Burns must have written this while suffering from a high fever. The symbols are a grab bag of odd pieces. The origins, meaning and usage are very imaginative - not much more.

Summary: Paranoid Conspiracy Symbols Illustrated
Review: Dearest Readers,
It has come to my attention that we have encountered another PCT (Paranoid Conspiracy Theorist) that puts themself in the position of "prophet" with a degree unheard of to the common people.
Apparently, this woman has no idea on any culture except for her own pseudo-culture that she loves taking delusions in. OK, now where in Aleister Crowley's history does it have that he is a 33rd degree Freemason? Wait, hold on, does it say anywhere that he was even a mason??? I'm confused now.
Also, I do not understand what the Taoists did to create such "Occultic Meanings" to the Chinese writing system (or so as she claims) For example, the Chinese word for water, shui (â©) is written as "used as a water charm, usually means 'Tao'" Hmm... interesting.
Another thing I'd like to point out is her obsession with CAPITAL LETTERS. For instance: 'Albert Mackey, a well-known Mason, writes that a sumbol is a "assensible image used to express an OCCULT but analogical signification"'(page 6) If you look throughout the book, FREEMASON, MASONIC, MAGIC, OCCULT, SATANIC, and many other words are capitalized and bolded so they stand out. Doesn't that seem to flash for attention?
To conclude, I think that this work is misinformed in a very mortal way. Looks like she didn't feel researchy enough to find out that Satanism wasn't an official religion until Anton LaVey (er... LeVay?) founded the First Church of Satan. In fact, even the Church of Satan doesn't put into the belief of Satan (they're mostly about self-centered philosophies and the fact that man is nothing but an animal)... any objections? I believe that such paranoid works will surface continously, but the fact is that there is not much proof of FREEMASONRY=SATANISM (AHH!!!! SAVE US!!!) Save your resources and find more reliable sources for symbology.

Summary: Biased Christian-view book!!!
Review: Dr. Cathy Burns apparently did NOT do her homework in understanding THOUROUGHLY the ancient and TRUE meaning of some of these symbols. I found it significantly disturbing that the pentagram was, to the author, a SATANIST symbol used to SUMMON DEMONS and EVIL. The FACT of the pentagram is that it is the MOST misunderstood symbol of human history and that it represents the 5 elements (each star point)of nature, in a circle connected as the cycles of life. It is sacred to earth-worshipping tribes and people's because of the connection to nature. It has NOTHING to do with evil; that myth was purely made up by Religious facist groups wanting their members to be fearful of TRUE religious freedom.
Furthermore, the Peace symbol is "EVIL" to the author... perhaps she found another creative way to misconstrue the true and popular meaning of the peace symbol today.
This book was VERY unhelpful to me as it was a biased account of symbols, very ignorant and NOT well researched.
If you are a religious fanatic, read this, it might scare you. Otherwise, stay away from it.
I would give it a ZERO STAR rating if I could!

Summary: What can one put into words.
Review: I do not own this book but previewed some of it. And was astonished to find that this person has no regard for anyone not christian. Even if against pagans, the author in her mindset would label buddist, hindus and taoists as all devil worshipers. I really wonder what she even say about the swaticka. I am sure she only know of the corruption done by the Nazis and fail to realise it more universal meaning, and so would label Native Americans and practially all the acient peoples of this world as heathens.

Another review would like to have given this book 0 if possible. I recommend giving it a (-5) because this book does nothing but promote hatred, if anything is evil in this world, it is this book.

Summary: Clear & Concise
Review: The text was an extremely useful reference to determine what types and symbols I do not agree with having in my home. Nor do I wish to wear symbols where the use of them would be gravely inconsistant with my beliefs. The auther outlines the meaning and significance of symbols which I would not have been able to decipher simply. This is information anyone concerned about their beliefs being purely represented would be entitled to understand.

Summary: Undeniable truths revealed.
Review: This book is highly researched and illustrated. If seeing is believing, you can't help but see for yourself the undeniable reseach the author has compiled. This book is not another whack conspiracy book, see for yourself, full of illustrations that drives the hard truth home and sears the conscience. The book is easy reading and the illustrations are powerful in backing up the authors understanding of symbolism. Not doubt a superb book for those seeking wisdom.
