Rating: Summary: "Prepare yourself for your dreams." Review: "Leaving the Body: A Complete Guide to Astral Projection" covers methods in which humans report achieving success in attaining OBEs (out-of-body experiences). The book contains ten chapters. The first chapter "The Out-of-Body Potential" covers the subject of OBEs and includes an overview of research in the field. Author D. Scott Rogo is careful to point out the differences between OBEs and depersonalization, and he stresses that "if you were to leave the body and travel to a location miles away, you might be able to correctly see what is going on there." This, Rogo, emphasizes places the experience in the realm of parapsychology. Eight chapters of Rogo's book cover 8 different methods for achieving OBEs: Dynamic Concentration Muscular Relaxation Dietary Control Breathing, Yoga and Mantra Monroe Techniques Visualization Dream Control Guided Imagery Each of the 8 chapters includes a background on the technique covered--and this includes research conducted on the methodology, a through explanation of the technique, and extremely useful reference information. The book also includes a bibliography and an index. Author Rogo was a professor and researcher on the subject of Parapsychology, and he certainly knows his subject. For me, the most useful chapter is "Dream Control", and the chapter gave me many further leads to investigate in this fascinating area. Dream control is something I manage to achieve on a regular basis, and I have had OBEs through this method. If you are interested in the subject of astral projection, I recommend this book. The author lays out the researched methods and offers simple approaches for beginners. The dryly-written book, however, isn't the definitive book on the subject--it's a good overview for beginners and the curious among us --displacedhuman

Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I found this book to be very helpful in the technique department. Rogo, gives a variety of different methods. I found the one on visualization to be very helpful. The thing to remember when working with his techniques is to just stick with one and keep doing it. I found I got results after five weeks of intensive practise. Though Rogo has been dead for some years now, I feel that his book is a wonderful legacy to the subject of Astral Projection.
Rating: Summary: this is the most boring book I've ever seen before Review: the author of this book spend pages and pages about experiences of people who has positive obe,but give very few exercises, the point that made mad with this book is that you read and read only testimony and nothing else,is good to read about people who has been succesfull, but is not fair that the entire book is dedicated to this very mediocre book! I dont reccommend it
Rating: Summary: Brilliant book on the subject! Review: This is a great book on the subject of astral projection. It gives 8 techniques to achieve OBE's which DO work! Tells of mistakes by projectors, gives a summary of everything he tells you. It's idiot proof for sure. Couldn't get more detailed or informative. Brilliant book, which i would give a 6 if i could. I RECOMMEND THIS ONE!!! Make this the first astral projection book you get so you don't have to waste your money on other books...when you can have everything you need to know right in this book!
Rating: Summary: OK book for learning about OBEs. Review: This was the first book on OBE's I read.Later I found the book by William Buhlman, and found the Buhlman book superior in its content and approach. The author,D.Scott Rogo does'nt get involved with any particular faith,or dogma, which I found refreshing. The chapter on Diet does have some validity,in my opinion, when I went on a strick vegitarian diet for a few months, solely for the purpose of weight control.I found my dreams which have always been very vivid, took an incredible leap in lucidity and clearness..(this was years ago, before I started having OBE's)There is a script for your own self-hypnosis tape. The Buhlman book has one also...All in all,I'd say buy this book and the Buhlman book...You wont need any other books for inducing OBE's.Pick the method that works best for you,and stick with it.
Rating: Summary: good Review: you should read this book before any others and before you check out the world wide web for information on astral projection. it's that good
