Rating: Summary: Ancient Teachings Review: The processes of spiritual enlightenment are outlined in this book even if written with an occassional dogmatic term. This was no doubt due to the consciousness of the times even though the information is ancient and the steps of enlightenment universal. Only a Master could outline such information while keeping the deeper meanings obscured. What meaning a person gives to the phraseology can only be conjucture and is limited by the capacity of the intellect, meanwhile, the imagination runs rampant, hopefully, to open the door to higher intuitional knowing. A very valuable read for those experiencing evolutionary changes in their lives for which they have no reference. It might be said that this book can only be understood years later.....after a person has traversed certain life passages.
Rating: Summary: Initiation Human and Solar Review: The various stages along the path of initiation are explained in this book. What is initiation? Who initiates? Who is initiated? Surprising answers are available at the hand of Alice Bailey, answers that are not found in traditional, religious texts nor at the foot of pulpits, although the book does conclude with "An esoteric catechism."
Rating: Summary: This book is a cornerstone for New Age philosophy. Review: This book adds a truly remarkable insight into the previously stated but obscure theosophical texts on initiation. It is non-sectarian and inclusive of all people in its approach. It seeks to expound facts about human life and in some sense it is a forerunner of many New Age philosophies and groups' belief systems. It is a crucial key for the modern disciple's understanding.
Rating: Summary: Vastness of Being Review: This book was the first written of the 24 books by Alice Bailey. As such, this book addresses some essential spiritual and esoteric ideas. Its theme is that of initiation, or spiritual crisis--moments of spiritual realisation and evolutionary change. In many ways this theme is the centre and essence of all spiritual study, because the spiritual crises, or initiations, that all beings experience are the great moments of their existence and, in many ways, embody and express the purpose and meaning and quality of that existence. The book also touches on the life of the disciple (person consciously treading the path) and the two main stages of the spiritual path, the later stage being called the Path of Initiation. The book contains a fair amount of esoteric and technical detail of the processes whereby initiations are undergone. Whilst these technicalities can be evocative and inspiring to some readers, for those who would not find it so, it nevertheless presents an expansive view of the vastness of Life, and the amazing interconnectedness of, and purpose behind, all things living.
