Summary: Bravo! Perfect for the dragon lover!
Review: As a dragon lover, this book is a wonderful read. It tells about almost every type of dragon you can think of and how to work with them. Explains alot of misconceived myths about dragons. I have some dragons of my own and this book helps me know how to interact with them. Wonderful book!

Summary: Must have for all Witches, Wiccans, etc interested in dragon
Review: Beware: don't get this book (or you can get it, just don't use it), if you are not serious about this sort of stuff and aren't sure if you believe its "real" or not. Also, definatley do not get this book if you are thinking of trying to bind Universal energies to your will; it will not be good. But, if you really are interested and certain that you want to contact higher beings (for the right reasons, of course), then this is a great book. It works very well, and, although I'm sometimes cautious about the things Llewellyn publishes, this is really a wonderful book containing a lot of history on dragons and great spells, as well as directons for finding dragon lines. If you've read some of the reviews above, trust me, you do not need a sword to do this stuff (which is good for people like me with a low budget and who a very disorganized (my athame is SOMEWHERE in my room)). I loved it, and, being raised a Wiccan, I'm hard to please in the magick area. I've been Wiccan for 15 years (16 this month)and I still learned a lot of great stuff from this book. YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!

Summary: The Ultimate Dragon Book for Magick Lovers
Review: Ever since I was in 6th grade, I've loved dragons. Not to mention, any so-called "mythical" beings. In 6th grade I came across D.J. Conway's book "Mythical, Magickal, Mystical Beasts and How to Invite Them Into Your Life" and it created a turning point for me. That's when I decided that my spiritual path was to work Magick, become Pagan/Wiccan. I also got her book "Animal Magick" because I love animals, and that showed how to do lots of animal rituals and meditations, along with chants as well.

Eventually I came across "Dancing with Dragons" and it is my favorite D.J. Conway book to this date. I've noticed that many reviewers here talk about not having swords or athames, therefore unable to do the rituals. What they didn't write is that D.J. Conway wrote in the book that if you don't have these things you do not need them. You simply use your power hand, the one you write with, and it works just the same. I don't have a sword, or a charcole burner for incense, but things work all right for me. Sometimes you have to substitute. This book is a must have, for both beginners and advanced magickal practicers. After all, I got the book about 2 years ago and tomorrow, Jan. 31, I turn 15.

Summary: Egads.. another book of crap.
Review: I bought this book, having had it recommended by a friend.. but, it turned out to be a waste of money. The art was nice, and I would like some more specific labels as to where the art came from.. but the information.. now that was definately faulty.
To pick a few points, dragons don't specifically enjoy/want to help/find it necissary to help anyone. They don't all enjoy dancing. They have varying sizes, and full grown dragons CAN be smaller than tigers. Christians aren't the only people to make dragons evil, but other cultures usually didn't have all dragons as being evil. The chinese colour for west is not blue, its white, blue is north-east. They have 8 directions, not including the center. Dragons do not have any need to respect a sword or any other weapon, being astral beings, a physical weapon cannot harm them, though when a dragon soul is born in a physical body (ie; a human) they would respect weapons.. as would anyone else. Dragons are not necissarily elemental, and usually can work with most/all elements. There are hundreds apon thousands of draconic scripts, and not all dragons are literate.. and whats with the gong thing?

Summary: Excellent Book!
Review: I loved the book! Lots of information provided, historical, background, contact info, how to info , ceremonial info, benefits, dangers, and everything between.

Summary: Dragon Wicca 101
Review: I was attracted to this book because of the artwork and because of a love of/fascination with dragons... however, I was rather disappointed.

I found the first couple of chapters about the history of dragons to be interesting. But once it got to the rituals I couldn't help thinking this was yet another Wicca 101 rewrite of every other book she's written - with dragon names thrown in where she would put an element in one book, of a Celtic god in another.
I found most of the book to be useless clap-trap... with the odd sprinkling of useful or interesting information here and there. Probably the only reason I have any affinity for Conway at all is because she places sword in fire and wand for air as I do - tho I find the tools generally unnecessary.

I will say I did buy the Celtic Dragon tarot deck she was involved in... but mostly just because the art is fantastic.

Summary: Good grief, another Hack writer cashing in on Wicca!
Review: If I had the option to, I would permanently ban Conway from ever writing another book. She gleefully displays her lack of knowledge on a plethora of topics, from basic Wicca to Ceremonial Magick, to history and mythology, and the list goes on and on. If this book were shelved under fiction, it would be better, but it purports to knowledge that is obviously made up on the spot, with no historical references cited.

In short, buy the book for a chuckle. Serious practitioners of the Craft and the Art should look elsewhere for instruction.

Summary: well......3 1/2
Review: its alright at best. The information on dragons as far as history goes is all well and good but the ritual is a bit elementary and basic. Almost everything rhymes which kind of gets old. The thing which really irritated me however was the over abundance of tools the author claims one needs to work with the dragons. Among them are two patens(altar pentacles)not just one......I dont think a dragon is going to care if you are holding on this paten or that paten or any at all. Tools just arent necessary. If you want to work with dragon magic then go out in nature and commune with them. I also find the authors claim that dragins only exist on the astral level to be odd. Dragons are here, on earth, in the physical body, in the flesh, in this time and plane. The only reason I say 3 1/2 stars is the history and illustrations, both of which ar well written.

Summary: Weak Wicca with Dragon Imagery
Review: Take basic baby Wicca. Add dragon images. Stir it all together like paint or a bad mocha. End of book.

Dungeons & Dragons literally has a better draconic cosmology. Any skilled practitioner of an established occult system could cast better spells with a D&D book and their pre-existing discipline.

Avoid this book, unless you simply wish to add to your established collection of "all books that include dragons". The second star is because it does have some cute pictures, and details that could be added to a fantasy roleplaying game.

Summary: Good Grief!
Review: Terrible, absolutely terrible! "Dancing With Dragons" is more like a Dungeons & Dragons manuel with magickal references to the King Arthur move "Excalibur". All you need to do is add some cultural references, info on elements and various eclectic Wicca rituals and Voila you have a fluffy book with little substance and relation to occult studies or magical workings. Oh my goodness I think I will write a poofty Wicca book! I think I could absolutely do it!... Seriously though students and seekers and those experienced in magickal systems, paganisim, wicca or what ever my advice is: Run away just run away...unless of course you desire a good chuckle....
