Rating: Summary: Take with a grain of salt. Review: "In this volume, Jesus sets the record straight regarding a number of events in his life. He tells us: 'I was born to a simple woman in a barn. She was no more a virgin than your mother was'." Thus begins the former teacher of a Course in Miracles, the popular "New Age" manuscript purportedly channeled from Jesus Himself. Like the Course, Ferrini perpetuates the common New Age/Buddhist misbelief that we are living in a "dream" and that the Second Coming is merely a metaphor of the Christ-self in us awakening. Ferrini goes on to enlighten us: "Moreover, the virgin birth was not the only myth surrounding his life and teaching. So were the concepts of vicarious atonement and physical resurrection. Relentlessly, the master tears down the rigid dogma and hierarchical teachings that obscure his simple message of love and forgiveness. He encourages us to take him down from the pedestal and the cross and see him as an equal brother who found the way out of suffering by opening his heart totally." Even though he may not have all his facts right concerning the miraculous life (and afterlife) of Christ, Ferrini's inspired prose has led thousands to take responsibility for their own lives and his workshops have enabled seekers to tap their own Divine potential within. In a brain-washed society, sometimes people need to put the mystery of the Jewish Messiah on the backburner to work on themselves. Take it with a grain of salt.
