Rating: Summary: great stories--AFTER Page 35 Review: Living With Ghosts: True Tales of the Paranormal This book (and author!) is a definite MUST READ! I never would have purchased a book on ghosts, hauntings or the paranormal before reading this book. Since then, I have read her first three as well. While in search of something to read, I discovered her four books among my husband's diverse collection. Chosing her last book first, I did not put it down until I reached the last page! If you would have asked me if I believed in ghosts before having read this book, I would have given you an uninterested shrug, now I am quite interested in the subject. Mrs. Fiedel had me captivated after the first couple pages... especially the heart wrenching dedication to her husband. I adore her style of writing and her unbiased and dignified way of presenting the stories without feeling the need to convince or prove the issue. Not knowing exactly how I DID feel, I truly appreciated this quality, allowing me the freedom to make up my own mind while entertaining and keeping my interest. She has a fascinating writing style that not only keeps you reading, but gives you the feeling that you are listening to a dear friend. I am anxiously awaiting her next book.
Rating: Summary: Good and bad, but not ugly. Review: This is a book that is somewhat hard to review. The parts that are good are very good; but the parts that are bad are unfortunately very bad. Let us discuss the bad part first and get it out of the way. The first part of the book deals with the sickness and death of Mrs. Fiedel's husband Sam. It is a very touching section and was written about someone she obviously loved very much. This section however has little to do with ghosts and ghosts are supposed to be the subject of this book. Nearly half of the book is taken up with this story and since the whole enterprise is only eighty-seven pages long the ghosts by necessity get pushed aside. The author has a lovely writing style and should really think about writing a book about her experiences to help others that are or have gone through the same ordeal as she and Sam. This book however should have been dedicated to the subject of ghosts and that alone.Once the reader finds the ghost stories, things improve greatly. Most of Mrs. Fiedel's tales of the paranormal are quite touching and only one is the least bit scary. The writing is good and there are eyewitness accounts of the hauntings. As I stated earlier, the author's writing style is very good and the second part of the book is hard to put down. If the rest of her books are as good as the second half of this one I definitely want them for my library. In fact, after reading the ghost section of the book I am even more upset than I was while reading the first section because I would really have liked to have read more of the author's ghost stories.
