Summary: Not what you all think
Review: (...) This book is NOT bad or evil at all! It is a great little book to have...every witch should have this book! It's inspiring, and it's funny, and entertaining! On the back of the book, it says "Magic/Humor"...so don't take it TOO seriously. Magick is all in your head...if you believe that you can accomplish something, you can. I just read the entire book, and it was great! Athena and Deborah totally help you out in many ways. They give good advice, saying that you're beautiful and that you're better off without that toad of an ex. (YOu can't really turn your ex-bf into a toad, obviously). They include that the spells are still under the 'good' or 'white' category of spellcasting. A lot of the spells are just to make you feel better about yourself. If you want something bad enough you can have it, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. :) Seriously, this book is great! It's not AT ALL like what the other reviews said here that I read, before I bought this book. I read every review on here about this book, and most of them were negative and I was a little scared to get this book. I decided to buy it, b/c the reviews here are just opinions, and I wanted to see for myself. I'm smart enough to tell what a good or evil spell is....most of the reviewers on here, haven't even read the book...they just judged it by it's title and cover. It's just a fun book to make you feel better about yourself, and to give you some sense of hope. These women who wrote the book, it feels as tho they really understand what us women have to go thru!!! They cover practically every aspect of being a woman today!! See for yourself what a great book this is!! Was alittle shocked at the size of the book, it is small. About the size of my hand. (...) Keep up the good work Athena, Deborah (...)!

Summary: Please Dont Take its Title Literally................
Review: -
Most people who wrote negative reviews about This book haven't read this book. This book is so wonderful.

These people wrote review without reading it.

Just think about it.Magic is neutral its in our hand to turn it White or Black.

We dont even need to cast any spell to do bad to someone.Even if we 'Think' of doing evil to someone continuously it will happen. But dont forget it will come back to you 3 folds (Law of Universe).

So even if there is some revenge spell,if you dont intend to do so then just ignore it & keep on reading other intresting spells like Money spell,Sucess Spells & Family Spells.

Read this book. Its much more than its Title. These two women(Authors)have done Wonderful Work.

Summary: FUN, FUNNY, REAL!
Review: Books of Magick have a terrible tendency to take themselves too seriously. Not this one! Truth be told, most people want of Magick exactly what this book has to offer: more love, more money, more fun, and maybe just a teensey, weensey little bit of revenge. The spells included are easy enough for a beginner, fun for a more experienced witch, and useful for just about anyone. The book is even worth reading for the humor value alone. However, the authors do make it clear that Magick has repercussions, and in spite of its lighthearted tone, the seriousness of the Magickal acts are clear. So DO grab a copy...and lighten up!

Summary: THIS BOOK HELPED BRING MAGIC INTO MY LIFE
Review: I bought this book when I first became interested in witchcraft and spells, and because I thought the title was really fun. I was surprised to find that I really learnt alot from the spells and the cool way it's written. The writers don't talk down to you or make you feel like magick is impossible to do. All the ingredients and the instructions are clearly set out and I have to thank the authors for bringing me into the world of magick (which was missing in my life) I now write a lot of spells myself and have gone on to buy and study many more books and information. but I will always cherish this in my book collection as what got my attention and awakened my spirit. P.S. some of you previous guys, wake up feel the magick (and get a sense of humor!)

Summary: help?
Review: i havent read this book and i really dont know anything about spells or anything. me boyfriend broke up with me not too long ago, ad no i dont want revenge. i still love him, but i just want a second chance, because i know i said some not so nice things to him when we were together but he loved me too. things were just getting to hard to work out. its taken a while but ive gotten a different view on loife and i am much more negative then i was before, which was something he always had a problem with. he wanted me to be more confident and have more self worth. is it bad to cast a spell to have him give me another chance. i would never do anything to hurt him, and i want him to know that, but he wont listen to me because of his freinds influence mostly. would it be bad then? i mean the way i see it it would make him happier to know that ive changed and things will be better with us. i think i would make his life better, not worse. can somebody help me with this? if you have any advice you can offer, or any books to reccomend, me e-mail is "lexmg1234567@aol.com" anything would be helpful. thanks

Summary: Yup--some spells work!
Review: Jamie Talbot- the reader who reviewed this book did an excellent job. What she shared was genuine and sincere. I supposed the author assumed those who choose to use the spells may know some magick basics but then again, just look at the title; who would seriously think it was nothing more than sophmore therapy. Digressing-(I also agree with Jamie Talbot on Donald Michael Kraig's 'Modern Magick'-EXCELLENT!)

Back to the "....Toad..." book. I picked up the book because at that time it seemed amusing and wasn't very heavy on the wallet. Also I surmised from the spells that the ingredients seem easy enough to obtain-not that I knew they would even work. I collect spells books, try them and then transfer those that really work into my Books of Shadows. Not all spells in all books obtainable, published or shared, work or don't work for that matter-to each his/her own. If you don't try the spells, you will have a very hard time digging through your library to find one in times of need. People-you gotta read, perform, select and transfer!

The 2 spells that made the difference were the Property Spell and the Lucky Doggie Charm. The Property Spell helped secured a high value for my house for sale when the conventional property market valuation was really bad. Then, it also helped me buy at a low low price for another unit when I reversed the spell for buying-brilliant! As for the Doggie Charm, what can I say...except that I'm really lucky to have my precious baby pup to add more joy into my already charmed life.

So, the adage is right, you can't really judge a book by it's cover and I still wonder why the author chose the "toad" title;....hmmm... was Kermit one of her...er.......Ex ?!

Summary: Good for spells, nothing else
Review: Let's face it, you've probably looked at the two stars that I've given this book and thought 'why so low?' I'll tell you why. It's not because the spells in this book don't work, it's just because the authors didn't give all the necessary information about spell casting.

They make out that all you need to do is burn a candle with a picture of your ex lover and say a few words (or something similar.) This is simply not true. You need a lot of factors to make magick work. First, a strong will for the spell to work, otherwise it's useless. Also belief that the spell will work, else the chances are it won't. Moon phase is also important as is mental condition and experience of the practicioner.

There are a lot of things that need to be considered before attempting a spell. A divination should also be done before spell casting, otherwise the grey magick you are casting might turn to black. For example, if you did a spell for money, then your mother died leaving you some, this would be grey magick turned black and would result in you being the victim of Karma (this is basically the law; what goes around comes around; whatever you put out comes back to you. Wiccans believe that you get it back three fold.) Therefore, if you do a tarot reading (or something similar) first, then it could be a lot safer for you and others.

I'm sure those of you with no magickal knowledge who just want to cast love spells or whatever will ignore this advice, but I strongly suggest you don't. Also, for those of you who are serious about magick and what to bring it into your life properly, then may I suggest Donald Michael Kraig's 'Modern Magick' as this is the best book I've ever found on the subject. Thanks for reading this, I hope it was helpful.

Summary: A great book for spellcasters with low self-esteem
Review: There is only one spell in this book that even begins to interest me ... if your self-esteem is intact, I wouldn't bother.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Don't bother
Review: This book repeatedly goes AGAINST the Rede. How would *you* feel if someone you had no intrest in put a love spell on you? This book makes you believe that magick for the sole purpose of manipulation is okey-dokey. It's *not*.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a wonderful spell book for novice and experianced witches!!
Review: This is a book about how to gain through selfishness, pride, greed and vengeance. It teaches nothing of philosophy or (heaven forbid) responsibility when working with magick. Deborah Gray is a disgrace to magick makers everywhere.
