Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best book on the topic
Review: Of the many recent works on the philosophy of language and religion, Stiver's book is the best. Further, it is extremely well written. The text is suitable for the introductory student (but the endnotes would be enlightening for the more advanced student).

Stiver's work is an excellent addition to the field. Students of the theology and philosophy of religion are in Stiver's debt.

Summary: it is a comprehesive overview of religious language
Review: This book is a very comprehensive enterprise of studying recent thought about religious language. The author did a very fine job both philosophically and theologically. He covers both classical approaches and contemporary or postmodern approaches to language. I highly recommend this book for those who are looking for a comprehensive overview of philosophy of language.
