Rating: Summary: Goddess Signs: Which One Are You Review: A much better example of what Australian metaphysical writers are about than one of our previous glossy attempts. This book is a fresh new approach. It's juicy, gutsy, and a powerful tool of transformation through the maxim "know thyself" using the signs and archetypes it introduces and helps you easily understand and you can then further expand upon yourself in your own way. The book focuses on respecting and enjoying that all people have that special light within them, not just a selected few. Because it polarizes the modern woman and man in society it has the resulting effect: reviewers will fall into one of two categories...Empowered people who respect other people and disempowered, supplicants (or power mongers) who do not. The disempowered reviewers are easily detected and are those who do the most wining about this work because it clearly challenges them in areas they as yet are not ready to evaluate. It asks them to put their effort (towards empowerment) where their mouth is. It can be hard for someone in that category to acept the empowerment of others, thus lashing out at the book. Although I happily admit I am a pig woman, I also heartily enjoyed reading the horse meditation as I felt it offered people with that sign a golden opportunity to look into and reflect upon the more divine aspects of this sign in the Chinese zodiac oft misunderstood by both the person living in it and those surrounding them. In the end reviews will be written in one of two (VAINS) which will be more telling about the reviewers than the work which in itself provides an entirely new paradigm and very clear choice for women. The goddess and god calls for our respect within and without. In order for us to evolve we alone must make the choices and the hard steps towards our goals. In stark contrast to some of our esteemed new-agey/magickal/esoteric authors opinions there are no short cuts, no free lunches, no easy rides, no other people that we can justify stepping on in order to reach our aims. Oh, and no apologies for removing that fallacy either. As intimated in the book, life is actually a challenge to be taken on and enjoyed in all its fullness. Empowered reviewers will write from the perspective of appreciating this lesson and the work, research and book for what it is: a fresh new approach and useful informative guide book to help you know yourself better through these signs and archetypes including useful suggestions and tools for you to draw from. (And expand upon). Disempowered reviewers will write from the perspective of using the review format to complain about or embellish what the reviewer sees in the mirror provided so eloquently between the pages of this piece. Some will go to the point of attempting to associate themselves with the work or the author, or comment on things they clearly do not understand as if they know more than the author. But this again is more a statement of their own lack of self worth than the work itself, and that's the polarization working beautifully yet again. For this second category of reader may I suggest quite humbly yet strongly that you skip straight to the epilogue and read it over and over a few times, I am sure this will reduce the layers of confusion spun by projections created from within. Perhaps then unlike the rest of the readers you might need to read the rest of the book from the back to the front, an odd but poignant suggestion...hehehehe.
Rating: Summary: Greatest book Review: Goddess signs really blew me away.A lot of astrology books go over the same ground, but this one was different.I am a student of astrology and goddess energy,so this book was just right for me.I also enjoyed reading about the god or goddess energy of people I know well---so accurate it's too much get this book for someone you care for and yourself .I love getting some new and different infomation on my innerself .5 stars isnt enough!
Rating: Summary: refreshing and new Review: I bought this book a while ago and highly recommend it for its great analysis and horoscopes .I have been looking throught lots of the relationship sections and there are some really great descriptons of various signs if you like reading something where you get lots of analysis then you will enjoy it .
Try looking at the back section on god signs this is very interesting !
Rating: Summary: Aimal signs are cool! Review: I have been reading chinese astrology for a long time because I find it interesting and usually very helpful to understanding people .A lot of people get confused by it because it is really based on the lunar year not your month of birth .I am born under the sign of the snake in may 1977 but my sister is born under the pig in 1971 but on the last day in the lunar calender so she is a pig but she is like a rat according to her interpretation too.Anyway, in the authors astrology columns she tells you which lunar year you are born under but maybe she could have mentioned people born on the cusp of that year too as a bit more info.I read a really silly review of this book where the reveiwer said the chinese astrology is wrong here because you need the time date and year and this sounds like she is really confused .You just need the lunar year and you can find that out from tables in the book my only advice is I think Danton should have put in cusp people but I liked her style which I found lucid and fun and I liked my category of goddess which is dark as this really fits my magical side too .I have been a practising pagan for most of my adult life and I like people who are bold enough to propose new ways of seeing things . I find the premise that all women are individual goddesses very attractive and I also identify with much of what is said .If you are reading this book check out the section on goddesses and karma found this the best bit .
Rating: Summary: An interesting blend Review: I just read a copy of Goddess Signs and I think that it has an interesting blend of ideas . Given that a lot of Wiccans and pagans like the concept of animal familiars and working with deeper magick in this way , I was actually more interested in this part of the books energy than the astrological although this if quite infomative too . I looked up my goddess and animal sign and they were a neat if rather contrasting fit .I am a Earth Goddess and an Ox. I have always really felt close to the Earth mother energies and so was quite at home here .I have attempted a few of the rituals as well and these felt very comfortable as I have always liked the animal energy in my deeper spell work . As a freelance witch I enjoyed the flow here and I am not too concerned with the recommendations for my sign because as an astrologer I would have to look at what associations come up for my moon and sun sign .Actually,I would have enjoyed it if the author could have given me more info on these . I liked it and would pass it around .
Rating: Summary: Aimal signs are cool! Review: I like the cool rituals in this book with your animal sign .There are a lot of books on spells out there but it is nice to read one with rituals including your personal animal according to your animal sign . I like being born under the sign of the Rooster anyway cause I love birds but that is another story .The reveiws on amazon are really good so I wanted to give mine . By the way for Harry Potter buffs ,I just checked out the animal sign of Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry and he is a snake like JK Rowling .In the book ,the author says snakes are the Dark Gods and Goddesses so I thought this was a fun bit of trivia . Liked the celeb readings here too .
Rating: Summary: Woman to woman Review: I liked reading Goddess Signs because I felt it gave me some great new infomation on my star sign and my goddess potential.I am a single mother and have a daughter of ten who is a cat like me .We are both moon goddesses under dantons system and I think this suits us perfectly as both of us love the moon and are into rituals. I am a wiccan and have my own attraction to different herbs and colors but must admit that dantons advice sounds interesting and mu daughter and I will try it . I have a cat as my familiar so this matches my animal sign perfectly . I also enjoyed the parts dealing with the God Goddess relationships as these are a lot of fun and as regards my ex spot on .Woman to woman ,I would recommend buying it !
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Loads of Fun ! Review: Now here's a book to have fun with! Angelica Danton has a fabulous method of finding your Goddess Sign by using the Chinese zodiac. She lists associations with Tarot, lunar phases and Numerology and describes the attributes of each Sign. Discover your own Goddess for 2005 in this immensely pleasing book. Just gorgeous !
