Rating: Summary: Bewitching.... Review: It's too bad I can't give this book 6 stars and up!!! I devoured this book as well as all of Laurie's other books. However, one might say that "the older the book the better". To me that does not make any sense. She teaches Witchcraft from a scientific perspective, which is more than I can say for many other "older" books written. After all, they merely tell you HOW Witchcraft and magick works, but NEVER how or WHY! And, people claim that she is too commercial. I have never seen this in any way! If she were REALLY all that "commercial", then, she would meantion her line of products in her books without giving the recipes for making them. However, she DOES meantion the products to be used AS WELL AS the recipes with which to make them. Now, this does not bear the ring of "being commercial" don't you think? Oh, and another thing, just because a book is "older" does not in any way mean that they are better (period) so you can use this as an excuse to decry any other "new" or well known author's books. Oh, and I personally would not recommend Gerina Dunwish's book "Wicca Love Spells" as a substitute for Laurie's marvulous book because it uses blood in several of the spells, either in someone's food or to prick your own finger, etc. So, I would HIGHY recommend Laurie's book, "Love Magic". As it also gives a lot of GREAT and common sense info. concering the ethics of love spells which REALLY get you to think! It was a wonderful book from page one to the final word!!!
Rating: Summary: Bewitching.... Review: Love Magic is written by one of the USA's most famous (or infamous) Witches, Laurie Cabot. The first half of this book explains what Love Magic is, how magic works, ritualism, astrological correspondences and such. The second half of the book is basically a grimoire (or collection of practical spells) to attract, enhance or dispel love and relationships. Contains two dated Appendices. Overall, fun for getting in touch with witch inside. Recommended for newbies to the craft and hardcare Cabot fans.
Rating: Summary: O.K. Review: This book was just O.K. and some of it was obviously written for the Wicca teeny-bopper fluffy-bunny mentality. For a better read I would have to recommend Gerina Dunwich's WICCA LOVE SPELLS (a.k.a. THE SECRETS OF LOVE MAGICK) or Marina Medici's LOVE MAGIC.
Rating: Summary: Great reading material for first time explorers! Review: This book was to become my first encounter with the practices and rituals of the Pagan. I truly appreciated the explanations given by the authors in regards to many differents rituals and other spells. Mostly, I enjoyed the freedom it gave my inner-self to experience, and hence gain, different perspectives of life, love and humanity. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to find out more about "the magic of love and the things we do for love"!!!
Rating: Summary: CHEESY Review: This is a wonderful book detailing not only a host of spells to attract new lovers, and discourage unwanted advanced, but a good introduction to the art of magick and the philosophy of Wicca. I would recommend it for those not even particularly interested in love spells per se!
