Review: Bernard Haring was in the forefront of the reform of the Catholic Church which "took off" in the Second Vatican Council 1962-65.As a result he was one of the few in a good position to evaluate the 30 years since. His perspective is gentle and kind, but he states clearly the ways in which the present Pope and his bureaucrats have derailed, narrowed and minimised the hopes of the Council and the Church. Yet he is still hopeful, and proposes an agenda for the next century's implementation of the Council's reforms. An excellent read for Catholics and those who are interested in the development of a freer, more loving and more open Christianity.
