Summary: A page turner- well balanced
Review: Attracted by the cover, I really enjoyed Mrs. Warren's first novel. This was the first Christian based novel I have read and I got so much out of it. I loved how real Deep Haven seemed to me and how well balanced the book was. Solid ministry. I was thankful there were no heavy sex scenes- in my opinion sex is a private matter. I am looking foward to another book from Mrs. Warren!

Summary: A really good book
Review: This book is about a young woman, Mona, who tries to pursue a dream of building her own bookstore. Joe comes into the
picture as her handyman, to help get the store up and running.

There seems to be a little bit of everything in this book. We find that Joe has a brother with Down's syndrome. We seem him
deal with that, and with the fact that his father left him. We also find a little bit of mystery in this book, like who kept
trying to sabotage Mona's bookstore, and who was really Reese Clark.

The book was very well written and easy to read. The book didn't drag on and on about things. I enjoyed the discussions
between Joe and Ruth, who was the director of the group home where Gabe was staying. And the forgiveness theme, between Joe
and his father, was done well.

I guess I would have liked to see more of Mona's past expanded upon. The book mentioned that her mother moved to Arizona
after Mona's father's death. What was the relationship between Mona and her mother? I think that the parts about Mona's
guilt over her father's death could have been expanded upon a little more.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very easy to read.

Summary: Christian Fiction That Truly Ministers
Review: This book was great. I read Warren's first work "Measure of a Man" (part of a three-story compilation entitled "Chance Encounters of the Heart"), and was so impressed with the quality of her writing and the solid Christian content which ministered to me, that I was thrilled to see the arrival of a second work by her. Apparently Happily Ever After is her first full length novel, and if that is the case, this woman is an author to watch, and to read! Once again, Warren's work was fantastic. The story line was delightful and intriguing (you won't want to put it down for long!), leaving the reader with an excited, happy feeling inside. As before, the thing that really stands out about Warren's work and makes it great Christian fiction is that it is absolutely full of biblical truth, in addition to being well written and very enjoyable. As with Measure of a Man, it's not just a story about the lives and pursuits of people who happen to be Christians and say little one-line prayers a few times. The story line is all about the transforming work of Christ in the lives of the main characters (who are both christians by the way; no far-fetched "missionary dating" in this story or the previous one) as they come to grips with the truth about the nature of God and his love, as that truth relates to their real-life pain. Once again, this is a story that will minister to readers, both Christian and non-Christian alike. It taught me more about God's true nature, and it reminded me of truths I already know. The characters in the story are true believers who really love God, and yet they make mistakes, they have misconceptions about the truth, and they desperately need the transforming work of God on their hearts. Because of this, the story encourages and reminds the reader that being born again does not make one perfect, and no matter how much we may desire to please God and "get it right", we will fail but that it's ok because God knows that we will, (he even expects it) and he loves us and accepts us anyway. The struggles and issues that the characters face are ones that are very prevalent in our society, making this a book that will speak in a personal way to the hearts of many who read it. And what is really amazing is that nothing of the entertainment of the story is sacrificed in order to achieve the Christian message. Warren does an excellent job of developing a completely natural, quality plot that sets the stage for, and develops naturally into, the message of truth. I highly recommend this book and it excites me to think of the ways that God will use the story to work on and in the hearts of those who read it to bring healing and freedom.
