Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: While I understand some points others' reviews have made, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was different enough with the time travel theme from typical romances, and I didn't find it as predictable as most romances are. Ruth Jordan's appearance was a total plot twist and kept you wondering where this story was going next. I am definitely going to check out Rememberance and Knight in Shining Armor.
Rating: Summary: ummm... I'd have to say it's only so-so Review: Although Jude is my favorite author and I've read just about all of her books, this was definitely not one of my favorites. When I read the summary, I was expecting the magic of Rememberance or Knight in Shining Armor, both of which have the time-traveling element, and are two of my favorites. But Legend just didn't measure up. Again, I know it's redundant to say after all the other reviews I read, but it must be said. If I had stopped after the first half, I would have been satisfied.
Rating: Summary: Visit the ghost town Legend........its worth the time travel Review: The author really needs to develop this type of story line. I thought Legend was lovely. Unfortunately she only does this sort of thing once in a while. I have to say "Remembrance" was the very best. It was a story that left you weepy and wondering "what-if" those two kids had really existed back then. Legend had those elements, but they lacked that sprinkling of stardust that leaves it turning over in your mind afterwards. It is very reassuring to know that any romance author can conceive of "romance" that doesn't involve "perfection" either in appearance, finance, social status, etc. (Although C.T. Jordon is rich). I think the author would truly carve her place in this venue if she ran with the muse that creates the bittersweet story writing that usually takes place in her time travel episodes. You can have that same feeling in the present day too. Suddenly a good sweet story would become a MEMORABLE one. It might even be too good to be considered strictly "romance" I liked this one. I think others will too.
Rating: Summary: Interesting premise, but she couldn't pull it off! Review: I liked the idea of this heroine being more voluptuous than what you normally see in romance novels. I liked the premise of the time-travel. I felt the author had an opportunity to show how Kady grew and became more confident after her experience in Legend 1873. I had hoped that she would have come back with a new sense of self. Unfortunately she just picked up where she left off. She waited six weeks to finally come to her senses. I couldn't believe the author wanted us to believe that after Ruth begged her to look into her descendants she would just come back to her life as usual. By the time she does meet up with C.T. Jordan in New York the relationship seems forced and completely unbelievable. This was the first book I have read by Jude Deveraux and I really don't understand why she is so popular.
Rating: Summary: Interesting at the beginning... but then it all falls apart. Review: I really like Jude Deveraux's books, and when I first started reading LEGEND, I thought I would enjoy this one too. I was wrong. It started out pretty well with an occasional bump or two, but as I read to page 190-something, that whole business with the grandma totally threw me off. I had to read that section over and over again, but still didn't understand the whole thing. If Mrs. Deveraux had kept this book at a simpler level, it would have turned out much better.
Rating: Summary: Easy Reading Review: Very entertaining, fast paced and fun! I read it in just a few short hours. It left me feeling exhilarated. She is a good writer.
Rating: Summary: the perfect romance novel!!!! Review: I really love her books and this met my expectations
Rating: Summary: Promising beginning... then it fell apart Review: I really liked Kady's relationship with Cole. So much did I like it, I couldn't believe she lost all romantic feeling for him by the end. Their relationship was the most consistent, entertaining part of the novel. When Grandma Ruth steps onto the scene, everything falls apart at the seams. Is it really plausible that Ruth could have put her estate in trust for ninety years for someone who hadn't even been born yet? Even if it was, first thing Ruth's descendants should have done was to separate their money from hers so that they weren't faced with the problem of losing everything once Kady showed up. I mean that's just common sense, right? And why did Kady figure she owed it to Tarik to return the money to him? Implausible as it was, Ruth had every right to leave *her* money to anyone she darned well pleased. It didn't automatically belong to her descendants. If Tarik and his family were stupid enough not to have separated their money from Ruth's estate a long time before, Kady certainly didn't need to feel obligated to reward their stupidity by returning money Ruth had every right to set aside for her. After a horrible start though, Tarik and Kady's relationship picked up. They made an interesting couple and I have to admit that although I enjoyed Kady and Cole's relationship more, Ms. Deveraux should have focused the relationship on Kady and Tarik and made their story even stronger because they did have spark and charisma. That last paragraph shows just how inconsistent and schizophrenic this novel was. With liberal use of the blue pencil to edit this novel into a story with just one hero and heroine, LEGEND would have rated more stars. As it is, pass this one by for A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR or one of the Montgomery/Taggert novels.
Rating: Summary: NOT YOUR TYPICAL ROMANCE! Review: This book had twists and turns in the plot that I found interesting and different from the average romance. I recommend this book highly. I normaly don't go for the romance stuff but I have found reason and reason again to reread Legend.I also found the heroine very amusing even though she is described as a"pretty face on top of a burrito."
Rating: Summary: *sighs* Review: I love all of Judes books, she has to be one of the best authors (besides Dickens). but this book was confusing and the plot was too unreal to believe. She should have stuck to just on of the plots, my choice, the historical one. I fell in love with Cole Jordan, and when I found the part where she incounters the grandmother, my heart dropped. I literally fell on the floor. then all the Jordan names. . . . everything got to scrambled up. I wish the Legend, Colorado portion of the book would have followed through to be a tramutic love story with the thin, large breasted, blond and the handsome muscle man with the deep forbiding eyes. I love Jude and everything, I worship her, but get real.
