Rating: 4 stars
Summary: good book
Review: i thoght that this book was a good read and worth reading again but it does not compare with her mallory novels. it definitly opens it up for another book or two bridging off of the caracters built in this one.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: A boring , underdeveloped story
Review: Johanna Lindsey was the my first author of the romance genre and I have faithfully read and enjoyed everyone of her books, until this one. I am sorry Johanna but I could not even finish it as became so bored with the shallow main characters. Where is the passion and tension that was found in "Keeper of the Heart" and "Man of my Dreams"? The last three Lindsey novels I have found did not come up to the standard of earlier works, but this novel has been the most disapointing - not worthy of hardcover. I have for a while turned to the authors Lisa Kleypas, Stephanie Laurens, Kat Martin and Nicole Jordan for the excitement that I once found in Johanna Lindsey's novels - but I will still keep hoping.

Summary: Good reading on a boring day.
Review: I'm a big fan of Johanna Lindsey. I've read all of her books. This book doesn't tug at your emotions like her earlier books, but it did have its moments. This is a book that I would read again, especially when there's nothing to watch on TV.

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: I was an avid fan of Johanna Lindsey's some years back, and loved just about every book she wrote. So I had pretty high expectations for this book. Unfortunately, they weren't realized. There was little of the "tension" you expect to find between the main characters in an historical romance, and therefore, the story wasn't as good as expected. Further, the characters weren't developed to the point where you could actually care about them. The female character's dislike of the male character was shallow, childish, and thus hard to accept as the main reason for keeping the two apart. And why the male character fell for the female is not known to me since her redeeming qualities were not demonstrated sufficiently. Rather than go on with my disappointments, I will say, it was a decent read, but nothing up to Lindsey's typical standards. Check it out from the library if you want to read it; but wait for a better book if you have some money to spend.

Summary: readable
Review: Hmmm well it seems as if everyone has an opinion, including me :) ok now seriously, yes i too have read all of her books and do infact read some of them more than once, and though i did throughly enjoy The Joining to be fair i will admit it was not one of her best, what normaly takes me at the most 2 days to finish, took almost 3 weeks. but hey we all have our good and bad days, and from the sound of it her next book should be above and beyond the standerds we have so highly set.

Summary: Lindsey does it again
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Lindsey's latest novel. I've been a fan for years now, and she keeps getting better with each novel. Can't wait for the next one to come out. Maybe she can find a new husband for Milisant's sister, Jhone.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not enough character development
Review: Although I have loved Johanna Lindsey's earlier novels this one is not up to her ususal standards. The characters seem flat and one dimensional. There are many areas that could have been developed to add body to the story such as the Milisant's gift with animals and Jhone's ability to sense the emotions of others. The only real background to the characters is the one childhood incident which left both Wulfric and Milisant unwilling to marry. The change in their relationship happens much too easily for two such strong willed characters. A good beach read but I would reccomend waiting for the paperback edition.

Summary: Lindsey delivers
Review: This is a good book. There is wit and romance to spare in this fun tale of two people who must get married but don't want to. They slowly change their minds. There is also danger, which adds a nice twist to the tale. Well done!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful Johanna Lindsey novel
Review: I have read many of Johanna Lindsey's books (still trying to get a hold of some of her earlier novels) as well as many other romance novels. I liked this book for several reasons. First the story focused on the turbulent relationship of the two main characters of the story (afterall I would not want to marry someone with whom I had a very bad encounter at a young age.) Second, I empathized with the heroine to a very strong degree. Finally, the story moved quickly and did not mince words.

On the other hand, for those who prefer more sex in a romance novel, then JOINING is not for you. To me, the story had a more realistic feel because of the heroine's inner and the small focus on sex. Overall, JOINING is light reading, good for a nice day on the beach.

Summary: not at all what I had expected.
Review: I'm a johanna lindsey fan, maybe one of her biggest. So telling you of my disappointment in her most recent book is saying a lot for me. It was not one of her best. Very slow in the beginning with a dull finish. Nothing in this book really held my attention. I read romance novel for the romance. I need foreplay, love, romance. Characters that have energy. "The Joining" had none of this or at least not enough. I'll stick to her old stuff for the excitement.
