Summary: Dark symphony
Review: I'm a big fan of Ms. Feehan's books since first reading the Dark Prince. This long awaited installment of Bryon's story was much anticipated by me. I must admit I was't sure if I would enjoy Bryon's story as much as some of the other ones, but, I was very impressed with the unique differences. Bryon's story was more on a human scale. His interaction with his life mates family, his desire to allow her choice in accepting him was sensitive, and very endearing. Also, his lifemate's age and disability were a plus. No whimpering innocent, but a full rounded woman with a career and high family values. In my thoughts, Bryon's story was told with less redunancies, less descriptive language. His reason for leaving home and seeking redemption for an assumed wrongness was heartfelt. As was his reunion with his sister and her family. I am a mother, and with the introduction of Josef, I could't stop laughing over his stages of growth, from his "wanna be a rapper" (please, couldn't you have done more in describing Mikal's reaction) to his attempts at finding his true Carpathian talents. This book has everything worth keeping your interest. Humor, mystery, love, intrigue and the reuniting of old friends. Please buy this book, you truly won't be disappointed. I certainly was'nt. I look forward to all future books on the dark series and I'm still trying to persuade others to give in to their 'darker sides' and hop on board the Christine Feehan Train. They won't be disappointed.

Summary: Great read!
Review: I'm a fan of the Dark series. However, some of the last few books have been a bit disappointing primarily because they were leading me to conclude that Ms. Feehan is a good but not great writer since every male Carpatian started to sound like the others (or a recycled version of other male leads) and every subsequent book in the series devoted about 20% repeating the same things "He is a Carpathian, and therefore . . . " over and over. Having just finished Dark Symphony, my mind has changed. I won't go into the details of the plot, as other reviewers here have already done so. I will note a few things. First, Ms. Feehan's latest has a tighter writing style than before. Also, she introduces new readers re Carpathians & background of other stories in a much more subtle manner, and she avoides needlessly repeating the same thing (about Carpathians) over and over. And I really like the fact that the female lead here is more experienced (sexually) than the female leads in the previous stories -- it gets old reading about virgin females having wonderous first experiences with super experienced males. Antonietta & Byron had a sweet courtship -- they actually spent time together talking, enjoying music, etc. before the story begins, so you really get a sense of romance developing among this set of life mates. Finally, I loved the introduction of the Jaguar race. It brought an added dimention to the Carpathian stories and some explanation as to why "human" psychics have been able to mate with Carpathian males. I look forward to Ms. Feehan's next book in the Dark series.

Summary: A Lot More Easy Going Male Carpathian
Review: For those of you who have read this series, this book is a little bit of a departure.

Instead of the woman having to give up everything familiar to her and learn to deal with living in another world. In this one Byron does much of the adapting. I don't know if it is because Byron is an artist instead of a hunter, but he is much more easy going. He does not come across as quite as possessive as any of the others. (I personally really like Lucien and Gregor the best.)

Toni is a very strong woman and she does not take any guff from anyone, and it seems that Byron does not give her as much. He gives choices and does not demand her doing as he bid or gives quite so many "mental pushes".

Great interaction w/his sisters adopted son that we read briefly about in the first one. I found this to be fascinating as a background and how things are tied together. It also brings in a new bloodline of carpathians. We also visit w/Jacqes and Shea. I found this to be very enjoyable. It is not my favorite, but it is very good!!!

Summary: What happened?????
Review: I am a great fan of Christine Feehan and the Dark Series. But, this book is boring. I received the book on Friday and have not gotten passed Chapter 5. The other eight books,I could not put down and could not wait to read what was going to happen next. With Dark Symphony, the characters do not have any attraction towards each other that I can feel. It just does not work for me.

Summary: If you loved Scarletti Curse, You may love this book.
Review: This book is a departure from the other books in the Dark Series. I thought it was appropriate for Ms. Feehan to change them because they were all starting to seem the same. However, I thought this book was too long in the some parts and too short in others. I wished the adventure of finding out about the thief was shorter. I wished the ending was more developed. And I was a little annoyed that she didn't tell us more about the jaguar what and the goofy nephew.

Summary: A BORING Carpathian????
Review: I never thought I would live to see it but lo and behold, Christine Feehan actually wrote something boring. Worse yet, a boring Carpathian of all things!! I've been waiting for this book for months and as soon as it hit the shelf I bought it and took it home to devour. Face it, gorgeous hunk on the cover, promising storyline to add to the Carpathian annals, Christine Feehan writing it, what more could you ask for? Well, I normally would have expected a good story...a sexy hero...and a strong heroine. And what did I get?...a nancy-boy Carpathian and an even more insipid heroine. This is supposed to be the latest to die for Carpathian? Who neutered this boy? Where's the familiar testosterone poisoning we've all come to know and love?...and lust over? Ack!!! Another crime...mediocre and very infrequent love/sex scenes...in a Carpathian book...Double Ack!!! Where was the love story, let alone the lust story? Heck, the only chemistry between these two would be a can of lighter fluid and a match (and you would have to supply both of them). The secondary characters were all either over the top or so two-dimensional that you almost overlook them. The villian was so boring I couldn't even remember them from earlier in the book they made so little of an impression. Very bad sign. The cameo by Jacques and Shea (from Dark Desire...my tie for best of the series along with Dark Magic) was brief and they too were...uhm...boring...Jacques boring...yes, I actually said that and meant it.

The first two-thirds of the book went to all new lows in mediocrity and while the last third finally did get better it was way too little too late. Literally the best thing about this book is the cover model who is definitely worth drooling over and that brings back a tried but true adage...you can't judge a book by its cover. Sad but true and that goes double for this particular tome.

Summary: Strong Carpathian thriller
Review: Though he has traveled the globe hunting vampires, Carpathian Byron Justicano feels compelled to follow the music to its source although he has already bought several CDs by the artist. His "obsessive" quest leads Byron to Italy's Palazzo della Morte better known as Scarletti Palazzo. Playing the piano that lures Byron is blind concert pianist Antonietta Scarletti, heiress to a fortune and one-day is expected to manage the family shipping business.

Antonietta is quite courageous not allowing the explosion that stole her eyesight and killed her parents to keep her from living life to the fullest. However, someone wants her dead and attempts on her life have occurred. Byron knows she is his lifemate. Like all male Carpathians, he will risk everything including his own life to keep Antonietta safe.

Fans of Christine Feehan's Carpathian novels will enjoy her latest appealing tale that freshens up the series by bringing in a descendant of THE SCARLETTI CURSE family. The suspense laden story line reads at times more like a thriller than a paranormal romance as the enthralling lead couple strives to survive assaults on their lives while also trying to ferret out the identity of their assailant(s). Some amusing scenes lighten the taut intrigue; together they blend into a supreme symphony.

Summary: This one's HOT!
Review: Synopsis from back of book.

He was Carpathianm a species as old as time. He could shift shape and soar high, run with the wolves, yet without light to his darkness, he could so easily give in to the whispers of temptation, the call for power and turn wholly evil--to become the undead, as many of his kind had chosen to do. He traveled the world, hunting the vampire, seeking to maintain a balance of life in a world of bleak loneliness. And then the heard the music...

Blinded and scarred in a terrible accident, Antoniette Scarletti made music that thrilled the world with it's beauty and passion. Decended from a long line of psychics, Antonietta has learned to rely on her other senses to "see" the world around her, but nothing could have prepared her for Byron. He came to her, drawn by her music, and became her secret obsession. Others fear him, sensing that he is dangerous--a predator--but for Antonietta he is her ultimate fantasy, her dream lover. He woos her with kisses full of erotic allure, whispering that she is his light, his salvation. Byron has waited an eternity for her, and he will let nothing stand between him and the woman born to be his lifemate.....

While I really liked this story, I still favor acouple previous books more for the different story line. But this is worth the read. As alway, everyone has their own likes and option so buy it and find out if you like it too.

Summary: Dark Symphony
Review: I am a big fan of Christine Feehan's Dark Series. However, I have to admit that this book is sorely lacking her usual talents. I have read the first eight in her series and could not put them down. I read each in a matter of a few hours. Dark Symphony took me a week to read. I just could not get into the story at all. What was missing? Many devoted fans waited for several years to read Byron's story. We wondered what happened to him following his treatment at the hands of the "humans" who were trying to destroy the Carpathians, believing them to be the undead. Little was mentioned about this. Trying to tie this story in with Scarletti's Curse instead of letting it stand on its own took away from the novel. I'm glad I read it because of the series, however I can't recommend this one. Sorry.

Summary: Another Stupendous Dark Story!
Review: Christine Feehan has done it again. This is another wonderful book in her Dark Series featuring those wonderful Carpathians that you will fall instantly in love with the moment you read one of her books. If you are an avid Dark Series reader, you will find that this book has a slightly different twist to the way Byron goes about claiming his lifemate as apposed to her previous works but it is a refreshing twist. For those who have not read any of the Dark Series I highly recommend staring with Dark Prince and working your way up. Dary Symphony is about Byron, an ancient Carpathian male finding his lifemate, Antoinette, at long last. It just so happens Antoinette is an ancestor of the Scarletti's you will find in Christine's book The Scarletti Curse, which leads to lots of intrigue and difficulty in Byron's claiming of her. Trust me, you will not put this book down until you have finished reading it!!! It is a MUST READ!!!
