Rating: Summary: The Best Book Yet! Review: This is a book that will make you angry, sad, laugh, and cry. The Clayborne brothers make the story come alive with humor. Once you've read this book, you need to read the books that feature each brother individually. No one makes a story come alive like Juile Garwood.
Rating: Summary: "For the Roses" is as close to perfection as you can get. Review: This book is filled with characters the reader can really know and love. I found myself there, with the Clayborne family, in the heart of Montana. Mary Rose is a loveable and believable heroine. Harrison is the man every woman would love to have for her own. Each Clayborne brother is his own person, and at the end of the book, I felt as if I knew each one personally. A definite must-read for Garwood fansr, and historical romance fans everywhere. A triumph!
Rating: Summary: The BEST Review: Julie---we are not worthy!!!!!!! I have read For the Roses several times (I have it in hardcover for the "I Love this Book--If you Touch them you DIE" shelf). I have recently finished the Red, White and Pink Rose series and have loved every brother--cant wait for you to tell Coles story!!! I even named 4 trees after the brothers. All of my friends who have read your books and I agree "I wish she would write faster" but then again we know that your books are something special to look forward to. EVERYONE read this book--you will not be sorry, you will love all of the Clayborne brothers, and Mary Rose with her sweet giving spirit. Then go on to read the other novelas that Julie has wrote about the Claybourns. Once again---I am not worthy of the joy your writings have brought into my life. Thanks :
Rating: Summary: As always, Garwood has written another wonderfull romance. Review: Julie Garwood has always had the knack for creating page-turning books. She has a witty style that never fails to elicit chuckles. She didn't fail to deliver in "For the Roses". I absolutely fell in love with her characters. The love she created between the the family is inspiring. It made me long for a family like that. It is a story that makes the reader feel good. I fell in love with the character of Harrison because he is such a well rounded individual. He is very much a "man" without being a brute like so often happens in romance novels. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance that isn't just a typical romance
Rating: Summary: For the Roses is Garwood's Best Yet! Review: Julie Garwood outdoes herself with this book!
While reading it, I was totally immersed into the
Clayborne family and felt as if I was one of them.
Wonderful characterizations, vivid mental scenery,
and excellent spin-off material. Couldn't put this one down!
Rating: Summary: One of today's best published historical romance novels Review: I find Julie Garwood to be one of the best authors in today's time. My belief is that she writes from the heart, not just to write like others have before her. For the Roses is well written and will be a cherised work in my ever growing collection. I find that her stories are refreshing and can always lift me up in any mood that I may be in. I await the rest of her saga of the Clayborne family with baited breath. I am thrilled that I will finally get to meet Mama Rose in the pages of her books. Katherine English 5/12/9
Rating: Summary: Heart-warming and shows a true sense of devotion to family. Review: Julie Garwood's "For the Roses" is a wonderfully written story of compassionate
people with a strong sense of loyalty toward family. Mary
Rose Clayborne is a caring and feeling individual raised by four adopted brothers. Garwood does wonderfully in portraying the characters as strong individuals.
The four Clayborne brothers have dedicated their lives to raising
Mary Rose in the best possible fashion, ensuring she want for
nothing, most of all a sense of belonging to a family.
Garwood shows the reader her sense of humor through her
characters, and "For The Roses" is no different than any of her other novels. I laughed, cried, and worried right along with them.
Rating: Summary: LOVED THE SERIES!!! HATED THE MOVIE!!! Review: This story and the entire series was beautiful. It illustrates what family is all about. Family is not just about blood its about LOVE,TRUST,RESPECT & LOYALTY. If this was required reading in high school maybe we wouldn't be a nation full of Jerry Springer guest. The selflessness of the young men in this story is inspiring. These young men show that even if life has been tough on you there is hope. This book and the entire Claybourne series really touched me. Julie Garwood is a sure thing!! I love all of her stories. ****WARNING JULIE GARWOOD FANS**** the movie ROSEHILL that is suppose to be based on this wonderful book in my opinion was awful!! They made Mary Rose out to be very selfish and mean. They KILLED OFF COLE!!! They never showed the family bonds that were created and were the main part of this lovely story. In essence everybody grew apart in the movie. They even leave you feeling that Adam will die of consumption eventually.. It was sad and depressing and I feel it didn't capture the magic of this book!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Romance with REAL Family Values Review: There are many reasons to like this book, but my favorite aspect is that it shows a non-traditional family full of love and respect. Three orphaned boys find a little girl in a trash pile and band together to raise her as their sister. The romance element of the book is good, as well as the part where Mary Rose finds her biological father, but the relationships of Mary Rose and her four unconventional brothers are what make this book a must read.
Rating: Summary: Stimulating & Endearing... Review: "Blood is thicker than water"... but it isn't the case in this endearing book. For the Roses surely proved that a family can be strongly bonded through the years of love and taking care of each other. Family can be create not only formed by blood. Aside from the family values, the romantic story of Rose & Harrison added spice to the whole book. Mary Rose's discovery of her real father and their initial meeting was a tear jerker. I was once again in tears when I read the part of Mary Rose adjusting to her new family. J.G. described each scenes and emotions so perfectly that I feel like I am part of the book itself. I have many favorite scenes in this book but I have to hold back telling it, otherwise, I will give it away and ruined it for those who haven't read the book just yet.I have read more than 10 of J.G.'s books and this is definitely one of my favorite. I am now in the third novel of the Clayborne Brides, which is part of this series. So far, I am not disappointed... here is how the series follows: For the Roses -----then--------> Clayborne Brides: 1st novel: One Pink Rose 2nd novel: One While Rose 3rd novel: One Red Rose ------last----------> Come the Spring Hope that helps, Enjoy!
