Rating: Summary: An engaging love story about characters of different ages. Review: I enjoyed this installment of Suzanne's Navy Seals series because the hero was wonderful and realistic. The author addressed the feelings of an older man who finds himself attracted to the daughter of a man he had saved in Vietnam. Very emotional read!
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I loved Jake in It Came Upon A Midnight Clear and was so glad to see him get his own story. I loved him again in this one, and thought Zoe was a fun character and perfect for Jake, despite their age difference. Actually, the age difference just made it interesting. This book had me both laughing and crying.

Rating: Summary: Love Brockmann. . .but not this one Review: I really love Brockmann and have been keeping up with her current releases and seaching out her back list and have about read them all. The SEALs books got me started on her and I really like them, but this one was the pits. I liked everything about this book EXCEPT the love story. We have a man who has been married -oh, no, that is too ordinary for this story - he has lived with this lady for 30 years and married her just before she died of a long term illness. (See one of the previous books for that bit of plot.) Now, a few celibate years later, he meets a drop dead beautiful woman young enough to be his daughter by at least half a decade who is a brillent research scientist, who is also a government agent, who is hot for his body, who comes on to him constantly, who knows his background, who already reveres him as a hero, who etc., etc., and we, the readers, are expected to believe that he really loves her for her personality. Get real. Jake is a smart, charismatic 50 yr old hunk and the best Brockmann could do is try to make the trophy wife scenerio work? It didn't. I'm 49. It is no fantasy for me to read that older men - even really fine men - go for young women. I can see that daily. You could have had a really great story here, Suzanne. Shame on you.
Rating: Summary: Totally satisying read Review: I was getting so disgusted by category romances (very tired of the amnesiac virgins/pregnant brides/woman-hating ranchers/fabulously wealthy creeps that are so prevalent in the genre now!) but Suzanne Brockmann has restored my faith in the category romance. I really enjoyed this book. The writing was witty, Zoe was an awesome character, and Jake...well, I certainly wouldn't mind the fact that he was 20+ years older... (I kept picturing a blue-eyed George Clooney - yum!) I am now going to rush out and find all of her previous books. Bye!
Rating: Summary: Romantic Times Review Review: Is there any-thing more exciting than another S.E.A.L. book from the fabulous Suzanne Brockmann? Absolutely not. This time, a legendary hero commands an undercover operation to penetrate a militant militia compound and prevent a terrorist attack. But he will need the help of THE ADMIRALS BRIDE (5), a lovely secret agent. Wielding her pen with exquisite precision,Ms. Brockmann makes us feel the hopes and fears of an extraordinary man and his equally extraordinary love. An experience no romance fan should miss
Rating: Summary: An interesting story but..... Review: Ms. Brockmann certainly knows how to write an interesting story but, her book lacks characterization. Zoe never seemed to get over the awe, she felt for Jake. One got the feeling that it was a surface love, rather than an enduring one. The age difference was always a problem in Jake's mind. And to be honest, it was always a problem in mine. Also, the story lacked sensuality. You expect it to be there because of their forced intimacy, and it's not. Categories alot of time, have too little of something in them; rather it be the plot, (this one was good), the romance itself, (just ok) or the sensuality. (weak) Ms. Brockmann will not be an auto-buy for me.

Rating: Summary: Fantastic hero, great story! Review: Out of Ms. Brockmann's many fabulous heroes, all of whom I adore, I *totally* fell in love with Admiral Jake Robinson! What a man! He is utterly idealistic and principled, but there is never a second of "sappiness" in the author's presentation of his heroism. She provides totally believable motivation for exactly why he seems so noble to others. In short: no matter how many people he has saved in Vietnam and throughout the rest of his illustrious career, he has always regretted the ones he wasn't able to save.At 52, Jake has been widowed for several years after a happy, 30-year marriage to an artist. The heroine, Zoe Lange, is different in every way from Jake's deceased wife, but she is truly his soul mate. Like him, she works in covert operations and feels a huge adrenaline rush from the danger. Because their work is so similar, Zoe understands Jake's career as his dead wife never could. Many times internal conflicts such as Jake's guilt about the age difference between him and Zoe can get tedious in romance because the hero's "angsting" gets excessive. Happily, Ms. Brockmann never crosses that line. The very traits of honor and commitment and deep, abiding love that make the heroine fall in love with Jake are the things that believably keep them apart until the tumultuous climax. Zoe is a fabulous heroine. Brilliant, competent, and independent, she never wanted to marry because she put her career above everything else in life. She loves her work as a scientist specializing in biological warfare. Like Jake, she knows her work is very important because it saves so many lives. So up until Jake, she only got involved with men as potential lovers that she was sure she would fall in love with only a little bit. However, almost immediately with Jake she realizes this is not going to be the case. She loses her previous control, because it is impossible to keep any distance from this incredible man. As for the love scenes--whew! TOTALLY HOT! Because Ms. Brockmann writes in close-third point of view, we get to be intensely immersed in the passionate feelings of each character in these scenes as well as all others. The author never distracts us by the dizzying head-hopping many other romance authors succumb to. We are always close-in and utterly personally involved by her seamless writing style. All in all this is a truly magnificent book worthy of the many awards it will undoubtedly win, as so many other of Ms. Brockmann's books have. The only "complaint" I have is that the book had to end!
Rating: Summary: Spectacular and moving, one of her absolute best Review: Suzanne Brockman is a master, and this is a masterpiece. I loved it! It made me laugh and cry, and stay up until 2 a.m. just to finish it. The characters are so real you wish they really existed. Jake's grief and healing are wonderful to watch. All this, and suspense, too! If I could write like her, I'd die a happy woman.
