Rating: Summary: Splendid Story of a Viking Slave and the Man She Masters Review: "Hearts Aflame" is a magnificent romance! A story about a Saxon lord and his Viking prisoner, "Hearts" sizzles with passion, wit, and MANY unforgettable scenes (a whipping, naked run-ins with the King, hundreds of armed Vikings to the rescue...). Kristen is the boldest, most open character JL has ever written; the Viking maid knows what she wants, and sets out to get it. And what she wants is Royce, an utterly delicious man who hates Vikings with a vengeance. He may hate her people, but there's no way he can resist such a saucy, sassy, spirited "slave" who gives as good as she gets, even in chains. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel - it has a sexy couple, passionate encounters, believable storyline, and lots of sub-characters who charm you immensely (especially Selig, who was such a precious baby in "Fires of Winter," but now such a hunk of a Viking in "Hearts Aflame"). Yes, "Hearts Aflame" is the second book in a trilogy, though it easily stands alone (and does so, with barely any back story). It is also THE BEST in the trilogy, which includes "Fires of Winter" and "Surrender My Love." I highly recommend "Hearts Aflame," but I suggest you read its prequel first, just to enjoy its sub-characters all the more.
Rating: Summary: This is the only romance novel I'd need on a desert island! Review: "Hearts Aflame" is J.Lindsey at her Ultimate Best! I'll always have a strong attachment to this book because it was the first romance novel I read, which I then read, read, and re-read again. The characters of Kristen and Royce are interesting and well-developed, the dialogue is fast and inflaming--words which also well describe the "love" scenes, and luckily, the plot doesn't meander much into the inane (which can't always be said for a good deal of the storylines in this genre). If I haven't praised this book enough and you need more assurance to purchase it, the review from Aerin in Seattle is dead-on!
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT Review: "Hearts Aflame" was the first historical romance and first JL book I've ever read. Before that, I'd only read contemporary romance. But Hearts Aflame turned out to be the best romance book I had ever read, and it still is.I love absolutely everything about this book - characters, plot - the whole "I thought she was a boy" thing. I have not yet read another book that even comes close to this, and if the rating system had 10 stars, I'd give it. I strongly recommend this book to any fan of romance, for it is surely the best of them all.
Rating: Summary: A true medieval romance Review: After having read „Prisoner of my desire" I swore never to read a Joanna Lindsey romance novel again. I was truly appalled. But the customer reviews persuaded me that I probably would like that one-and I did! Usually I don't like medieval romances but that one was different. I liked sassy and daring Kristin who is a really strong heroine and also Royce who is a true match for her. I could understand both point of views which is seldom the case when I read romance novels. It is so sweet to see how Royce and Kristen eventually admit their love for each other. The only thing I did not like was the spanking scene. It was unnecessary and didn't fit at that moment. It was as if Lindsey only brought it in because she has a liking for such scenes. The bondage scene (only a mild one) seems to be one of Lindsey's favourites, too but at least it fitted into the storyline. Nevertheless I did enjoy the book thoroughly.

Rating: Summary: The Best Review: An absolutely beautiful book that is a MUST to be read by all. This books clearly explains how strong love is no matter what the situation, Kristeen is a beautiful character and the whole book it just beautiful with words and sentences you just can't forget and dream about. Royce is a man you'd yourself would so love to find and to marry. I love this book. Its worth more than 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Kristen is a wonderful heroine. Review: For once I read a book that doesn't have some proper little lady who denies, denies denies.. Kristen knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid of anything. She even managed to save herself and save Royce (so she thought). She was bold and proud. I love to read books with strong-headed heroines. The Magic of You is another book I liked. They know what they want and will do whatever it takes to get it.
Rating: Summary: Lindsay's Best! Review: Hearts Aflame impressed me as one of the most honest presentations of the agony and ecstacy of love ever. Kristen is so refreshing as someone who can be very capable, strong and independent without being bossy, bitchy or manly! She's able to keep her femininity and still be stong and honorable. And Royce - what can I say - he was my first crush! This book is excellent. I've loaned it to all my friends and still read it every year!
Rating: Summary: uggh Review: I could not enjoy this book. I just cannot enjoy a book where the "love story" is about someone cheating on someone else. The hero of the book is engaged to another woman, yet he kidnaps the heroine, takes her virginity, refuses to let her leave and the ENTIRE book he is never planning to marry her but to marry the other woman and discard her. And the heroine is so beyond pathetic, bowing and scraping to the hero and instantly forgiving all the crap he puts her through. This book made me sick and was an insult to women.
