Summary: Shelter Me
Review: It has been a while since I read a romance novel and Giselle Carmichael's "I'll Be Your Shelter " ended my dry spell. Jillian Newman, a beautiful African American attorney, witnesses a horrible murder during the height of a thunderous storm and becomes hunted by the gunmen. Harrison Blake, the Italian lead detective, is appointed to be her protector. However, neither one of them expected the heat that emanated between them. When Jillian is taken to a safe house they begin to explore their feelings. She pours out her soul but senses that he is keeping something from her. Despite that she will risk her life and heart for this man.

Some parts of this novel were a bit predictable but there were plenty of nice twists. I was leery when I read that the storyline was interracial but Carmichael does it well. She does not put overemphasis on that storyline but its there and becomes relevant when it is relevant. The chemistry between the two was electric and the sex scenes were off the chain. :::sigh, if only, if only.::: if you are into suspenseful romance I'll Be Your Shelter is a good read!

Summary: Huh?
Review: This book was pretty good. It wasn't awful. Don't understand the hyperbole of other reviewers. It's only a book; like a movie, it's meant to entertain. It isn't a matter of life and death.

Summary: Great book!
Review: This is a great book. I loved the relationship between Jillian and Harrison. I loved Harrison Blake. He loved Jillian from the very first moment he saw her and protected her with his life. Although there were a few typos, you could overlook them because of the story. The mix of love and suspense was great.

Summary: Predictable and Cliche
Review: This novel was a total disappoint me. I agree with Rachel. The story was predictable, had quite a few typos, and there was very little to keep the reader engaged. Between the two main characters, I felt that the things happening between them were improbable. I disliked this novel and would NOT reccomend it. If you want to read a good I/R novel, read The Meeting of the Waters, Taming It Down, or Lady Moses... all by Kim McLarin. Carmichael let ehr readers down with this novel.

Summary: Wow! What a great book!
Review: This story was amazing. I had just read Once in a Blue Moon and I can say that Ms. Carmichael made up for that book in this one. No simpering crying (well some crying) female who couldn't make up her mind.
This was a romance between a white cop and a black lawyer who really hit it off! I loved the suspense. Although I had quessed the main players (or suspected) of the murder three quarters into the book. The ending was a surprise.

Summary: Liked the Book...but
Review: This was only my second interracial book. After trying to read Heart and Soul, you may wonder why I decided to give this genre of writings another chance but I am glad I did.
Ms Carmichael's work was predictable in certain areas of the book, but isn't parts of real live predictable.
I liked the charcter of Harrison better than I did Jillian's.
I thought her relationship with her ex was too much victim to his aggressor considering what the reader knows happened in their relationship and the role he played.
Also, why is her character written as such a shrew with Harrison. I have noticed that it is almost a theme now running thru these books where the female character is loud and not just outspoken. Either she is screaming at the male or she is just loud speaking.
There were times I found myself talking back to the book and telling him to leave her, especially when she insisted on screaming at him like a shrill fishwife.
The relationship and fluidity of the book got better for me as it went into the second half. I am recommending this book because of its secondary characters and also the sex scenes which were at times very hot.
