Rating: Summary: Johanna Lindsey is not done with the Mallory's . Review: Ladies "James Mallory" is mine. And what about about this "to die for" son of his. Johanna you can't just leave us hanging. I love all of Johanna Lindsey's books, she cannot write fast enough for me. I have bought and read everyone of her books at least twice. I want more!!!!
Rating: Summary: Truly a patriotic romance of the Americans and the English! Review: This book is very easily one of Johanna's best. I love the Malory series. In the series this is the best. Enthralling through the entire novel. Not a single dull moment.
Rating: Summary: This is the book that made me fall in love with romances!!!! Review: I have probably never read a better romance novel. The story line is quick and attention-grabbing, but the main attraction is the characterization. The Malorys and Andersons become a part of you. You laugh with them, cry with them, and sigh with them. This is one of the rare books that I just couldn't put down. I've read it over 100 times (no exaggeration!!) and now that I'm talking about it, I think I'll go read it again. It's that good! And if you read it, get ready to read the other 4 Malory books, and any new ones that come along!!
Rating: Summary: My All-time favorite book!!! Review: This is my favorite book!!! I have OVER PROTECTIVE BROTHERS so I definately can relate to George!!! And what woman alive wouldn't give their eye teeth for James??? He is SOME MAN!!! I love reading this book over and over and over again! I will never get enough of this book!
Rating: Summary: The third book in the series was not a disappointment. Review: I like how this book is set up by the one before it and the one after it. I have to admit that my favorite character in the book was Thomas Anderson- he's a laugh a minute.
Rating: Summary: Gentle Rogue was the bomb!!! Review: I read this book when it first came out and I still read it time and time again. I have a friend who has many older bothers just like Georgina and so I know what it's like to have OVERPROTECTIVE OLDER BROTHERS. It's bad enough when only one or two of them are at home but when they are all together ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. Georgina found this out the hard way. This is a favourite in my collection
Rating: Summary: Another Malory winner !!! Review: You fall for Georgina and James from the beginning of the book. The Malorys and the Andersons are so wonderful, you just want to be one of them - and for a little time you are.
The chemistry between Georgina and James, and their sense of humor, endear them to you very much.
Rating: Summary: The Gentleman Pirate (Malory# 3) Review: If you have read the second Malory book, Tender Rebel, you will recall the first encounter between James and Georgina at the tavern where, even disguised as a boy, she still managed to catch the ex-pirate's eye with her cute derriere and leaves a lasting impression on James. Towards the end of that book, we saw James off to the West Indies and learn that she has ultimately fallen into his lap when she and her friend seek passage on his ship.
In Gentle Rogue, we learn that Georgina is actually an American who came to London in search of her English fiancé, whom she hasn't seen in six years. Despite her five brothers' objections, she managed to get their old Scottish friend Mac to accompany her only to find out that their search has been in vain, when she learns that her supposed fiancé is now married with kids. Angered with this discovery, and the fact that she and Mac are practically penniless after being robbed, they ended up working for their passage in the Maiden Anne, not knowing that the ship belonged to James Malory, the man she has remembered as 'the brick wall' who carried out of that tavern like a log. And so she finds herself working as a cabin boy for Maiden Anne's captain only to find out too late in the journey who that captain is.
When James Malory finds out who his new 'cabin boy' is, he asks his first mate Connie to pretend they didn't know the truth. Being the rake that he is, he takes pleasure in seducing Georgina before unmasking her real identity. And boy, are we in for some real fun! I love how James continually teases Georgina and her response is just so delightful to read. I was so amused by their pretence. I had a roaring good time reading about George's 'sickness' and how James tried to 'cure it'. I laughed so much when she told him "You make me ill" to which she was referring to the physical desire she feels every time she comes near him.
And if reading about the whole trip isn't enough, wait until you meet the Anderson brother's when they arrive in America. They're pretty much the American counterparts of the Malory brothers. They'll make quite a good story too.
This is my favorite out of the whole series. It's a very entertaining read with very likable characters.
Rating: Summary: Deserves a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. read Review: I have bought this book when I was still in high school. I skimmed the whole book, yawned, put it in the bookshelf and never read it again. Fast forward ten years later, picked up the book due to the long vacation, and absolutely loved it! James Malory is definitely the most interesting amongst the Mallory brothers, no doubt. Georgina,is his counterpart amongst the heroines of the Mallory novels. I was laughing all throughout due to the constant bickering of the Mallory brothers, as well as the Anderson brothers. James, for me, is the perfect hero. Not over-the-top sweet, but still a very loving husband. Strong but not invincible. Handsome but not too-handsome as Anthony was. His sarcastic wit made him stand out. The only thing I didn't like about it is the setting of their seduction. I'm never familiar with ships and its terminologies. However, the humor that is constantly present with the story makes up for it.
Rating: Summary: Favourite Historical Romance of ALL TIME!!! Review: This is not only the best Malloy novel, but it is my favourite historical romance EVER! (*Spoilers*)
The hero, James Mallory is incredible in every way possible. He is strong, determined and adorable. He makes me laugh and he makes me want to hit him (in a good way), he is the kind of guy you wish was real, so then maybe you could get over the fact you could be falling in love with a fictional character. George is beautiful but that never seemed to over ride her character or define her in James eyes, her personality truly was what made her stand out to me - tenacious, funny, intelligent and so incredibly loyal. She is James match in every way, which delighted me no end.
I read this book (3rd in the series) first, so sadly Regan/Nicholas and Anthony/Roslynn books seemed to pale in comparison when I read them. They were great books, but James and George had already stolen the show for me! Gentle Rogue is absolutely wonderful, and I only hope I can find a book to match the wit, the hilarity, the laughter, the joy, the sadness, the hope and the relief I felt after reading this incredible novel. It so out shines the rest of the series (which in it self is awe inspiring seeing that they are all great books) and I found myself reading The Magic of You (Amy & Warren) and Say You Love Me (Derek & Kelsey) purely to catch up on George and James. I am currently waiting to receive Jeremy's novel for that same reason. Though both books were great on their own merits.
It annoys me when people consider romance novels especially historical ones as a way to pass the time, a trashy read. This people is far from that and I will not give up the copy of my paper back for anyone!
Buy it, read it, you will not be disappointed!
