Summary: Meant to be together . . .
Review: Jonas Quarrel was a man with a gift -- a psychic gift that threatened to overtake him if he didn't discover how to leash the power within. Verity Ames was a small-time restaurateur, innocent to a fault and holding in a burning desire. When these two meet, a white-hot passion explodes from the pages in _Gift of Gold_ by Jayne Ann Krentz. Though maybe a bit more farfetched that most of her other books, Ms. Krentz takes the supernatural and makes it believable even for the most skeptical reader. Having Verity be the anchor to Jonas's psychometric powers was touching and gave the book a feeling of destiny. It was as if these two characters were soul mates who could only live up to their potential with each other. Both Jonas and Verity were believable and well drawn -- they reacted to the very odd circumstances in much the way you'd expect normal people to respond. As always, the environment and plot were plausible and exciting. With each page I turned I was left with a sense of anticipation that compounded until the climax of the story. Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, _Gift of Gold_ is an exciting and charming book peopled with dynamic characters that draw you in and make you care. Ms. Krentz's humor and inherent ability to develop a story are clearly evident in every page. The dialogue is witty and the banter between the characters is entertaining. I'm thoroughly looking forward to the sequel, _Gift of Fire_. Once again, I was well pleased with my selection of a book by Jayne Ann Krentz. In any of her many incarnations she never fails to deliver a solid story, great characters and a legendary love that will leave you sighing.

Summary: A book worth reading over and over.
Review: This book is an exciting foray into the world of pschometry heavily dosed with Jayne Ann Krent's unique style of romance. From the back alleys of Mexico to the mansion of a dangerously eccentric artist, Ms. Krentz weaves a story of suspense, danger, adventure, love and humor. This story is one to be enjoyed over and over, ideal for the deserted island at sea. Of course, the sequel "Gift of Fire" needs to be tucked into that duffel bag as well

Summary: Unbelievable!
Review: This was absolutely the most far fetched, ridiculously written book I have ever read in my life. After reading 2/3 of the way through I had to burn it in the campfire out of disgust. The dialog between the two main characters was so incredibly fake I couldn't stop laughing. I am shocked at how many people think Jance is a great writer.

Summary: Even after 10 years I remember this plot vividly!!!
Review: This was the first book of Ms. Krentz that I read, and that was all it took; she had me hooked! Even after 10 years and hundreds of books, I remember the plot with great detail. Gifts of Gold, and its sequel, Gifts of Fire make a great read for those who like contemporary AND historical fiction. There is a dash of the paranormal, which Ms. Krentz later expands in her 'flower' books (Orchid, Zinnia), but which she wrote about WAY before it was vogue to do so. I just love the way she took our hero and heroine and combined their special 'gifts'. With a quick wit, a great sense of humor, a villanous 'bad guy', and some great sensual scenes, this book is not to be missed!!!

Summary: Definitely a "gift" for the reader
Review: Verity and Jonas are very memorable characters, which is why the sequel to this book "Gift of Fire" was written, if it had not been, we would have demanded it! Jayne Krentz writes well researched books with humor, passion, and believable plots even when the 'paranormal' elements can make for a wild ride. The best part of the book is the relationship between Jonas and Verity, full of passion, doubt, trust, exasperation, and full of life. I like that Krentz uses other characters' foibles and machinations as 'tests' for the two characters, which make for an exciting read. Do not pass up this book or the sequel. You will be missing some great reads.
