Rating: Summary: What a Dissapointment!!! Review: "Eternity" is a wonderful read! Carrie being the spoiled, loved child of her family is not to be taken the way it is typed. She has compassion and a light in her that can be brought into any person's life. Josh is a very human character. He's stubborn, prideful, and arrogant, but is not to be taken that way either! He loves his children very much and wants to lay the world at their feet. "Eternity" is a compelling book that shows how two worlds can combine and make both their lives as happy as it can be. Carrie brings life, laughter, and joy to Josh and the children. Josh in turns shows Carrie another side of life. He shows Carrie a life of modesty and personal skills to be learned to have harmony. Josh and Carrie's character help make the reader feel their strengths and vulnerabilities, their virtues and flaws. The characters are all too human. "Eternity" is filled with raw emotions and second thoughts that the reader can respond to and understand. I definately recommend this book to everyone because it can just draw you into the book and want you to make the decisions for the characters.

Rating: Summary: This sucked! Review: Believe me, Jude Deveraux could have done better. I love her books but this one was really annoying and boring. I kept hoping that something exciting might happen. She made 'Ring sound like an invalid. The mystery of Joshua Greene was really nothing
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: Carrie made me laugh and Josh was sweet to his children, that's why I liked this book. Carrie WAS a bit lazy, though. And Josh WAS kind of pig-headed at times. But hey, at least it wasn't as horrible as Temptation *shudder*.
Rating: Summary: Not her best, but not her worst Review: Carrie made me laugh and Josh was sweet to his children, that's why I liked this book. Carrie WAS a bit lazy, though. And Josh WAS kind of pig-headed at times. But hey, at least it wasn't as horrible as Temptation *shudder*.
Rating: Summary: Sweet Story but a little too "far-fetched" Review: Carrie Montgomery, a sweet but spoiled little rich girl just instantly decides to marry someone in a photograph. For days, all she can think about is how much that photograph struck her in an odd way that made her fall in love with Joshua Greene and his two children, Tem and Dallas. With only a photograph for motivation, Carrie Montgomery lies to her parents and her many protective older brothers, drops all the responsibilities she gains in her little match-making business and decieves her future husband (who is really looking for a maid-mother-farm hand) to go out west, give up her riches, make this man fall in love with her and raise his children. If you can just beleive this beginning for a while, the story gets pretty good once she gets off the stage coach into Eternity, Colorado to start her new life. Jude depicts the children so well however, that I am ready to adopt them as my own. Tem (an 8-10 yr. old boy) and Dallas (a sweet 5 yr.old girl) are absolutley charming and will even make you laugh. It is easy to see why Carrie will fall in love with the children. I had a little more sympathy for Joshua as he has more motivation, conviction for his children and plenty of little secrets to keep you wondering about him. In summary, this story was enjoyable for the most part as I always enjoy Jude Devereaux's style and charm but it was difficult for me to have a lot of sympathy for the heroine. Although Carrie is still a lovable character, I think I would have enjoyed a heroine that was more goal-oriented, who would give up all that she had for a more substantial reason.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Compelling Book! Review: Do yourself a favor: ignore those cynics out there. About the other reviewer who said she didn't understand Josh's intentions for a mail order bride; Josh wanted his two children to have a mother and hot food in their stomachs. Obviously, Josh can't cook that well, messing up a simple dish such as eggs. This was a wonderful book, and I love what happened to Nora in the end. Josh was the perfect hero, who wasn't willing to let his rich bride buy his way out of his mess. He was also proud enough to stand up to 'Ring, who is the most formidable figure I've read in Deveraux's novels yet. Keep the good work coming, Ms. Deveraux!
Rating: Summary: Disagree With All Those Cynics Who Gave This Book < 4 Stars Review: Eternity was one of Jude Deveraux's best books. It had beautiful and well-rouned characters and a plot that was entertaining from the beginning to the end. This tender and enchanting story truly touched my heart and soul. No wonder this author is a New York Times Bestselling author. Her work is perfection.
Rating: Summary: It's Definitely A Keeper Review: Everytime I read one of Jude Deveraux's books, I think at the time that it's my favorite book, until I read another one of her books. So far my favorite Jude Deveraux book is Eternity, I love Carrie, and Josh's characters, and fell in love with Josh's two adorable kids, they are very smart for there age. Jude brings two people together, Carrie answering a letter for a wife to take car of his two kids, When Carrie read the letter she knew that Josh needed her and she was already falling for him and his kids without even meeting them. In order for them together, Josh has to open up to Carrie about his pass, that keeps haunting him, knowing that if he told her about his pass she would leave them and he knows that his kids need a mother. When Carrie finds out does she stay with Josh and forgot about all the lies he has told her? Eternity is just the right name for this book. Happy Reading Lisa
Rating: Summary: Jude Brings Back the Magic of "Wishes" with "Eternity"... Review: From the moment that Carrie Montgomery saw Josh Greene, she knew that she had made the right decision in coming west to be his wife and the mother to his children. She knew that she was meant to be with him; that she already loved him and he loved her. So did he, until he found out that she was his wife! His mail-order bride was not the hard-working farmhand that he had wanted, but rather a pampered young woman who had come west from a lifetime of being spoiled by older brothers in Maine.
Nonetheless, Carrie Montgomery Greene decides that she is going to show Josh that she is not a liability, but rather the "good fairy" that Josh and his two young children, Tem and Dallas, have been waiting for. Due to her background, however, Carrie is unable to complete any of the tasks that Josh asks of her, even something as routine and simple as washing the dishes! Hiring townspeople from Eternity, Carrie refurnishes and redecorates the house, plants rosebushes, and employs a cook, thusly angering Josh due to her use of money to obtain her place in his home and, he believes, in his childrens' hearts.
Although their sensual electricity is obvious from the beginning, it is not until the Sunday after Carrie and Josh's first meeting at the stage station that they finally give into their desire, shortly after rescuing Josh's son, Tem, from a ravine which he had fallen into while carrying out his plan to make Carrie and Josh fall in love with each other. Or, as Tem puts it, "make them think that each other is the most wonderful person in the world." After seeing Carrie's riding skills and her ability to manage emergency situations (such as Tem's disappearance), Josh begins to see her as his wife and not as a nuasance.
Unfortunately, Josh Green decides that Carrie deserves better, and takes her to the stage bright and early Monday morning. Luckily for the readers, the stage will be one week late, and Carrie is almost out of money at this point. Using the remainder of her money to open a dress shop (using the material from the dresses in her twenty-seven trunks), Carrie makes a name for herself and for the town. The next time that Josh comes into town with the children, to send a letter to Carrie (whom he believes to be in Maine), they see each other. Although thrilled to see the children, it takes a lot of persuading by Josh to win her back.
Just as this happens, Carrie receives a letter from her oldest brother, 'Ring, saying that he will be in Eternity the next day. The story goes on to introduce Josh's first wife, Nora, an airheaded actress and the mother of Josh's two children. I don't want to ruin the ending...
This is Ms. Devereaux's funniest book to date. Visualizing the conversations between 'Ring and Josh makes me laugh even now. This is a don't-miss book for the die-hard Jude fans and for the new reader. The couple is passionate, the ending is a surprise, the children are precious, and the scenes are breathtaking. I screamed, I cried, I laughed myself silly, and I read faster that I ever have before, trying to see what would happen next and still devour and savor each succulent word. If you liked "Wishes", you'll love "Eternity"
