Rating: Summary: One of Her Best! Review: After reading the many poor reviews this book recieved from other readers I was doubtful that I would enjoy this book - but did I! Devil's Embrace is one of Coulter's finest. The characters are vivid, enjoyable, and relatable. The romance between the main characters, Cassie and Lord Clare, is both witty and endearing. That being said, this book deals with a very serious 'gang' rape scene that is violent and very troubling. It is sad and graphic so this book will not be for everyone. Also, many reviews I saw that made me think twice about reading this book spoke of a rape scene between the main characters. I did not find this to detract from the book at all. Prehaps, because he truly loved her and was trying to keep them together - even the heroine herself was not bitter about it for long, prehaps because she is learning to love him also. In fact his actions when compared to the other scene cannot even be called rape. There is a part where as the captain of the ship (not as her husband) he must punish her by the standard ship flogging. He does try, unsucessfully, to find a way out of it and in the end both Cassie and Lord Clare respect each other more after it is done. Lord Clare realizes what a strong, proud, and brave woman he has captured and Cassie knows that he shows compassion and justice as a Captian. All in all, this book and the trials, love, and life that these characters share has become one of my favorites! Well done Coulter!
Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: I absolutely loved this book. Yes, I can see why some people may have mixed feelings about the book. Some say it is too harsh, but I say it is real. Those peole that want to go through the book reading about fluff and dream fairytales all the way through need to read something else. But those who would like adventure, true passion, unbelievable love than this is the book for you. Happiness, sadness, sheer joy, and empathy for the characters comes through in this book. The undeniable truth is- you actually felt like you knew these characters, you can picture the story taking place. Problems arise, they are overcome and you find your self smiling when the characters succeed. It is a strong and compelling novel and you bet your bottom dollar this is my favorite book and I would recommend it above all others.
Rating: Summary: What is this garbage? Review: I cannot believe an intelligent person would like or recommend this book. The hero is an arrogant pig with little consideration for other people's feelings. How can this be romantic? I really adore Coulter but this book is truge garbage. Rape is not romantic!!

Rating: Summary: Horrible book Review: I couldn't finish this book. It was horrible. The heroine, Cassie, is set to marry her childhood sweetheart when she is kidnapped by the "hero" who wants to marry her. He then rapes her. Cassie later falls in love with this man and marries him and has his children in the end. After reading the rape scene which was so horrible I started crying, I threw the book away. Only a truly sick person would write such a thing for entertainment. I like to read love stories that make me feel happy for the characters in the book, not totally horrified. There are women out there who are victims of domestic violence; this book seems to me to justify and condone this behavior from men. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Drama Review: I found too many parts of this to be wordy,
and skimmed (but not skipped) ahead. If I
had just come from reading a Kathleen Woodiss
this story may not have seemed so detailed.
I will definately make sure I'm in the
mood for serious reading before I pick up
another by this author. I enjoy a quick
light story w/ more cheer. Something that just
flows. (This has some funny moments).
I was not prepared for the rape scene. I am not
squimish at all and am not bothered when there's
need to display true characters of historical times
--- But this ... was just brutal ...
Rating: Summary: Caprtured Review: I have been sitting here in total awe and I just don't want to start another book - I am almost scared that I will loose the fresh memories from this one! I have NEVER read a book and felt so utterly satisfied in the end. I have been reading about a book a week of Catherine Coulters and this was is by far the best. This book is by far graphic in the tortures that Cassie endures by captors.... I found the one rape scene appaling- but, it was small compared to the rush of emotions you felt in the end. I feel like I am in love with the Earl! Their moments together were so sensual and beautiful...... erotic. Cassie is so strong and precious..... Do not by this book if you have a weak stomach and no interest in a roller coaster of emotions. Buy this book if you seriously are ready to sit in awe in the end and want to read again already.
Rating: Summary: Spicy!!!! Review: I liked this book very much. It had tons of suspence and the shock level is high. It is on the spicy side but isn't that why we read these books? Besides Catherine Coulter being my favorite author, this book is one of the more rememberable ones in her many titles. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: So disturbing... Review: I was so angry at times, especially at Anthony and Cassie. Cassie is supposed to be full of life and sassy and while she is in the beginning, I just think she ends up settling. When he was beating her, I wanted to beat the living crap out of him and she just took it. Yeah, she disobeyed him, but he kidnapped her!! I guess in his own sick way he loved her and if it weren't for the beating and the rape I could see myself liking him. But sorry, I hate these type of stories where the male treats the female HORRIBLY and then the female just forgets about it and ends up falling in love with the guy. Poor Cassie, she not only gets raped by Anthony, but she gets raped later in the story too. I just think its ridiculous for her to forgive Anthony so soon or at all. This book was just too disturbing.
Rating: Summary: One of my all time favorite books!! Review: It seems you either love this book or hate it. I guess it depends on what you see as in depth real passionate love and to what lengths one is willing to go to achieve this love. Anthony was willing to do almost anything - yes he did perhaps go beyond the rights of man with her first taking of Cassie's virginity. However - I guess I can forgive that one lapse for what comes after - and Anthony is just the epitomy of the strong, sensual passionate man that I would have loved to have met in my life. He is just so gentle and loving to Cassie - you can feel instantly the love he feels for her. I think this is because he truly does understand her - he loves her fiesty nature, her love of adventure and she meets his passion with one of her own. Yes, Cassie thinks she loves her soldier Edward - who right from the first just seemed to tame and too staid a man for one like Cassie. She would have been bored to death with him!! Anthony and Cassie's whirlwind love affair will totally pull at your heart - at times your heart will break - the intense rape from those 4 dispicable villains will just tear you apart. Anthony's love and affection for Cassie afterwards will make you finally understand how deeply wonderful a man he could be. And when Cassie flees him to once again meet up with Edward you will want to scream at what she does! I think that completely evens out the rape from Anthony at the beginning of the book. And Anthony's reaction to what she did - wow - what true understanding and love from a man for him to react so magnanimously - most men would be wallowing in their own bloody pride!! This for me was a once in a lifetime book - I think I will be like the other reviewer that will not even be able to read another book for many days - still dwealing on the emotions of Anthony & Cassie. I totally 100% recommend this
book - it truly is one of my all time favorites.
