Rating: Summary: Enchante! Review: I love Jude Deveraux's books ~~ and this one is no exception. I love the main character, Nicole ~~ a strong woman who loves just as passionately as her loyalty is. She flees to England to be a maid to a woman named Bianca, whose delusions of grandeur is only a Baron in her past and her dreams to attain her family land that has been sold off in the past. Little does anyone know that Nicole, a French refugee, is actually a member of one of the oldest families of France ~~ her ancestors intermingled with kings and queens and married them. Throughout this book, Nicole is reminded of her mother's gentle admonishing to always be a lady. And she is.
Nicole stands in for Bianca when a gang of ruffians chased them in the park ~~ and Nicole gets kidnapped in place of Bianca whom they really wanted. Married by proxy to a man she has never seen, Nicole is on her way to America. Clayton Armstrong is a plantation owner by default ~~ his brother and sister-in-law died a few years back and Clayton has taken over the plantation. From the beginning, Nicole has declared her love for him ~~ even though he has treated her horribly. Eventually, they both fell in love and then Bianca comes to America and wreak havoc in their lives .... will true love ever come for them again?
It is an entertaining read ~~ in spite of the horrible things that Clayton did to Nicole. It was a glorified soap opera and and very entertaining. I know it's fiction and it's fun to escape into someone else's problems! Deveraux always manage to get me to read more of her books ~~ this one is no exception!

Rating: Summary: Not her best work..... Review: I love Jude Deveraux, however this one is missing the usual Deveraux flair. The main characters were weak and confusing, the heros' friend was stronger and much more likable than the weak-willed, wimpy, main character- and the plot almost predicitable, this is the first book of Jude Deveraux's that I WAS able to put down.

Rating: Summary: I fell in love with Clayton! Review: I read this book years ago and recently re-read it. The love story was so beautiful! I have a two-year old son who's name is Brian Clayton and we call him Clay. I loved the whole triology, but this was definitely the best! The characters made a lasting impression.
Rating: Summary: TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON BIANCA'S WEIGHT Review: I thought this book was a DISSAPOINTMENT. NEVERMIND the predictable and at times boring plot, Ms. Deveraux doesn't seem to know any other way to describe Bianca other than "fat", "plump", "swollen", "so fat when she sits, she can't get up", "her eyes were lost in her fat swollen face"...etc. I don't know how many different ways Jude Deveraux feels the need to describe Bianca as overweight or how many different characters needed to tell her so. Wherever the name Bianca was, there was an insult to her weight and she eventually took on name "The Fat Woman". It was unneccessary and took over the whole story. Instead of spending so much time on describing how repulsive Bianca was because of her weight, Ms. Deveraux should have been developing a stronger, more meaningful plot with likable characters.

Rating: Summary: Is a great read!! Loved it! Review: I've never read Jude before, but this was a promising first time!! You feel for the characters, and the love scenes were so erotic! You get to love the characters and laugh when they joke, cheer when the overcome, rage when they're set back. It was very easy to get into. I would buy this book again, (if I lost my copy), just to make sure it's there to dig into again.
Rating: Summary: What is happening with Jude??? Review: If you want to read a Jude Deveraux novel try "Knight in Shining Armor", "Wishes", or "Remembrance", or any of her other books. DO NOT READ THIS ONE. I love escape literature, but the dialog and the actions of the two main characters are so unbeliveable that I just wanted the book to end as soon as possible. The characters are annoying and I could not find anyone to cheer for.
Rating: Summary: Terrible!!! Review: It is very unrealistic. In the past, I have found Deveraux's books to be average but they keep getting worse. I have a relative that keeps giving them to me. I don't think I will waist my time reading the ones I have left. I didn't even finish this one because it was so bad/silly. There are some very good authors that I have been descovering lately, Madeline Hunter being one. These good authors write at a high level of intellectuality, and know how to tell/depict a love scene that really moves the reader. I really wouldn't even give Deveraux's book one star.
