Rating: Summary: One of the best in the series so far. Review: This book had me hooked from the beginning. I never guessed the secret Hannah held onto all those years.
From the very beginning, this book takes off. Battles of wits and wills. Passions flaring and the characters constantly bumping heads. Both strong people who want to live their life their own way.
At times, when Dougland was going on and on about his revenge and all that, he was rather cruel, but that attests to how much her leaving bothered him before, so much he did not evn realise it, but you do. He was not all that bad, except for when he was trying to get her to leave. Made me want to smack him.
There was the mystery of who is doing away with all the earls and why. Then Miss Spring and her followers. They were endearing and the story would not have been the same without them. There was one thing that I was unclear on, and that is what exactly did Dougland's butler do all those years ago. We know he helped, but how?
Why would a man wait years to find the wife who left him and do what he did, if he did not care? I know that does not excuse some of his behavior, but it more or less explains why he went up high on the mean scale. Its a good book, so far the best in the series. Get and make your own opinion. Its not that bad at all, it really is that good.
Rating: Summary: A great author does it again!! Review: This book has such clever twists and turns in the plot, a hero to die for (maybe literally), a spunky heroine and the dotty old aunts who were so funny and touching. Rules of Attraction stands alone, you don't have to read the other two Rules books, but I would. Great series! Great finish!More!
Rating: Summary: Christina Dodd is an auto buy for me Review: This book is just one of the reasons why. She writes the funniest dialogue, with all kinds of twists and turns, and her hero is dark, sexy, terribly flawed, and determined to have the heroine at all costs. He could put his shoes under my bed "anytime." I stayed up half the night reading it, and would have happily stayed up all night if only it were longer.
Rating: Summary: Ah they argue just like an old married couple Review: This book lends such reality to the characters you can truly accept that they must have been married for so many years and only shear stubborness kept them from realizing how happy they are together. It's a little hard at first to settle into the book when it depends so much on a history you only gather as you read through the middle parts of the book, but the dialogue is so humourous that you'll keep turning the pages to get the whole story.
Rating: Summary: Delightful Romp! Review: This is a thoroughly enjoyable novel, with an interesting heroine and hero, and marvelous secondary characters (the outspoken aunts are fabulous!). Throw in a little mystery, and you have a completely satisfying read. The tension between the protagonists is skillfully maintained, and the author does a good job of creating atmosphere. Strongly recommended!

Rating: Summary: So Much Fun Review: This is the story of Hannah Setterington who sells her governess/companion business and sets out to discover her past, only to discover part of her past she thoroughly desired to keep hidden. The sparks that fly between Hannah and Dougald singe your fingertips. And the "Aunts" will keep you laughing through every chapter. Just a dash of mystery to make the adventure a little dangerous. I cried & laughed and totally enjoyed myself as I devoured this book in almost one sitting. I loved how strong and courageous Hannah was and how Dougald was fantastically unable to stick with his determination to only punish Hannah. These two are irresistible. I have not enjoyed all the books I've read by Dodd, but I truly loved Hannah & Dougald's tale.
Rating: Summary: Nice but nothing special Review: This was my first Christina Dodd book. I chose one of her books based on other recommendations, especially one my one of my favorite authors. However, I was not particularly enchanted with this book; for me, it was mediocre. I liked the heroine, even though she seemed a tad weak-willed with regard to the hero. But the hero was not very likeable until near the middle of the book; in fact, he was often quite cruel verbally and emotionally. Even now, I'm not sure I'm entirely convinced of their love for each other (lust, yes; but love....). Dodd did an excellent job of keeping the reader in suspense about whom to trust and who's a villain. Unfortunately, one often wondered that about the hero. The book's style was interesting, and I will read another Christina Dodd, give her another chance. But this one isn't among the best I've read; I had little trouble putting it down.
Rating: Summary: DOUGALD RUINS THE BOOK!! Review: This would be a wonderful story, if not for Dougald!! How in the world could Christina (Dodd) imagine someone as intelligent and independent and free-spirited as Hannah being paired with a controlling pompous jackass like Dougald? From the beginning of the book, he is manipulative and controlling and not at all my idea of a romantic hero. He has no redeeming qualities. If I had been Hannah, I would have run away, too!! To give Ms. Dodd credit, I think this plot is more developed than her other books because we actually get to delve more into the governess's past and find out what lead her to the present point. Just some advice Ms. Dodd-if you get the chance to re-write this book, please change the hero or develop him into someone we can like. I would give this book 3 or 4 stars, but I was so damned mad at Dougald reading this book that I have given it 2 stars. At some point I actually wanted to burn the book because of Dougald.
Rating: Summary: c.d. always good and getting better Review: well, what can i say? this one is definately a winner. nine years before the story begins, hannah setterington, ran away from an unhappy marriage. during those nine years she manages to make a success of herself. when the story opens, she is manipulated by her estranged husband into returning to him as a companion to his elderly aunt so that he can exact his revenge for her abandonment. i was actually impressed by the emotional depth of the hero, dougald. yes, he was strong and masculine, which is always a plus, but when he exposes his vulnerable side to hannah, the heroine, i was pleasantly surprised. he manages to convey his pain, bitterness, and sorrow as well as exposing hannah's culpability for their unhappiness. this was essential, because throughout their separation and loneliness, dougald always shouldered the blame from her as well as others for their failed marriage. and, the piece de resistance to the whole ball of wax was their physical attraction to one another. hannah and dougald were, in a word, hot, hot, hot! this, my fellow readers, is what makes this a five star review, because without the "spice", this book could have been a total maudlin mess. i wonder how c.d. will top this one and am anxious to find out. happy reading!
