Rating: Summary: Not lit at all...she lost me Review: This is a sad, depressing, hopefully not realistic book. I thought it would be fun...Boy, was I wrong. Diana is a most disconcerting character, her life is an endless series of rejections and humiliating experiences, even when she gets thinner. The highlight of her days is dining with her 93 year old neighbor. Her misery really ends only when, of course, she finds, or better finds her Mr. Right - again. Splendid.
To think that this is a young writer...With some adjustment, this novel might have been written in the 1800.
Rating: Summary: Good idea, poor execution..... Review: This novel is not your typical chick-lit. Our heroine works as a truck-stop waitress, not in publishing. Her only friend is a 98-year old woman, not other neurotic single women. She doesn't live in a big city, and goes to single bars by herself. And she's 190 lbs trying to look average, not 140 pounds and trying to look like Brittany Murphy. All of those things are refreshing, and would make this a refreshing departure from typical chick-lit fare- heck, finally there is a heroice we;re not even a tiny bit envious of!But this novel is tiring to read, and the writing style is simplistic. Nobody expects James Joyce when they opt for a Chick-lit book, but the writing should be better than this. Anoth problem is that while the author takes interesting trips into the heroine's past, this can become tiresome as it happens too frequently after a while. Finally, rather than chronicle how losing weight will help the heroine's self-esteem, it simply traslates into "if you lose weight, your life will be OK," which is not a good message.
Rating: Summary: fast, original read Review: This was one of those books I looked forward to reading each day. Just when I thought I'd read it all before, along comes a chick lit that stands out above the rest as truly original. Losing It follows the lovable Diana Christopher through the highs and lows of her unusual life in a way that is both heartfelt and humorous. There is some serious subject matter in the book, which is always treated with grace, but at the same time, you turn the page and find yourself laughing your butt off! It takes skill to pull that off, but I think Rech definitely did. I look forward to her next one.

Whether it was making you laugh or making you cry, LOSING IT was as real as it gets........From her television purchases to planning what she will stuff her face with next, we've all been there! Rating: Summary: "weighing in at 178?" Review: Um...excuse me? Since when does weighing around 178 pounds constitute that we should jump out the beauty window? I'm so sick of books that make it seem that girls should only weigh around 120 pounds to be great people. Yes, 178 is a good chuck o'girl but give me a break!! I look and act perfectly normal weighing in around 169 pounds.
