Summary: Fizzles out totally
Review: I thought the characters had a lot of potential at the start, Lucien and Alice. But the swing in his character from hard man of the world who cynically sleeps with his twin brothers fiancee to prove she is a tart, to man who wants to be loved and not alone is way too abrupt. Coming as it does in the middle of an orgy it is just absurd.
In addition, the author cheats the reader on a nomuber of levels. There are so few real love scenes in the book, it is depressing. Also, they are very tame, and the week they spend together is summed up in sentences like 'they were inseparable for three days.' Boring.
Then it goes into the really absurd effort for him to try to find his arch enemy; he seems most inept for a spy, and the idea of having the ordies to keep an eye on all his enemies is also ridiculous. He makes the twin brother Damien look like a twit in the end as well, pretty much effectively ruining him for the sequle Lord of Ice she had planned. Making him propose to Alice to save her from Lucien is just silly, but even worse is Lucien's reaction-he is like a drunken Neanderthal, and if what he does does not ruin his chances with her, it should do. Is this supposed to be revenge for his sleeping with Caro at the start of the book? We can see the supposed plot twists and turns coming a mile off. A really intriguing book for about the first 60 pages, and all down hill from there. I would love to see meaty, believable characters and some real engagement of feeling and sensuality. This is my third book by Foley, and all of them are from this emotional distance it is like the writer is observing them through a really thick pane of glass. The Duke was bad, Lady Desire was worse, this is the worst.

She is bound by honour to look after her nephew and her neglectful sister-in-law. A truly awe inspiring story, i loved every bit of it, the characters are great, what can i say? it was just great^^ if you enjoyed Gaelen Foley's other work then you will love this and the sequal to the: "Lord of Ice" about Lucien's twin brother is just as great. I know you will enjoy this as much as i did.

Summary: Hot, Hot, Hot!
Review: The story begins with a suspenseful introduction into the world of illicit sex and homeland intelligence. Lucien mistakes the heroine for a brilliant spy when he first meets her, and proceeds to use sexuality to draw the reader through a marvelous and winding plot.
I am thrilled to have found Ms. Foley. She is seductive like Susan Johnson and funny like Julia Quinn, but her characters and stories are definately original. Read this book and be prepared to fall in love.

Summary: Gaelen Foley knows her romance!
Review: An excellent romance! This is my first Gaelen Foley book and I am throughly HOOKED. Absoluetly cannot wait to read The Dule, Lady of Desire and most of all, Lord of Ice. Filled with heated love scenes that can only be mastered by this wonderful author and an exciting subplot only adds to the drama. Loved it, absolutely loved it!

Summary: GREAT READ
Review: this is the first book of Gaelen Foley's I've read, and it was great. I'm an avid reader and some of my favorite authors are Mary Jo Putney and Johanna Lindsey. Now I can add Gaelen Foley. I definately agree with the other reader who said that it was the hottest first meeting ever between a hero and heroine. Lucien is a great hero who has such a tortured soul. i definately recommend this book.

Summary: What a spy!!!!
Review: When Miss Alice Montague arrives at Revel Court to retreive her wild sister, Caro in order to bring her home to help take care of Caro's 3 year old son who has the chicken pox, she never imagined that she would walk into a HUGE orgy, be searched by it's host, Lucien Knight (quite improperly I might add), kissed sensless, and practicly kidnapped for an entire week! But she also never imagined that she would see the softer side of Lucien Knight and see how she's the only one who can save him from going over to the dark side.
What Alice also doesn't realize is that Lucien is a secret agent who is only holding those "parties" to gather information for the government. He sees Alice for what she is soon after he meets her and knows that she's the only one who can save his heart from dying and becoming as evil as the people he's trying to protect England from. He decides that she needs to stay with him for one week, property be damned. So he tricks Alice into staying and her sister must leave without her. Soon though both Lucien and Alice start seeing each other in a new light. They know that this is meant to be. However Lucien has many dark secrets that he refues to tell Alice, and she refuses to be his wife until he shares them.
But danger is closing in on them. Lucien's arch enemy is in England and is planning destroying the city and Lucien once and for all. Lucien must stop him and end this game once and for all. But can he do it and keep Alice at the same time???

This story is quiet honestly one of the BEST stories I've ever read!! It is a page turner until the very end. You feel yourself falling in love along with the characters, and keep wondering how Lucien is going to be able to stop his horrible rival Bardou. Mrs. Foley has done an absolute wonderful job with this book! It is a very clean book too. She handles the "party" scene with much tact and it very clean about it. She is able to get her point across without becoming gross and turning it into an erotic novel. I suggest that EVERYONE read this book! Like I said it's absolutley WONDERFUL!!!

Summary: Lucian Knight is A Knight In More Ways Then One!!!
Review: This is Lucian's story and Ms. Foley was very good in what she penned!

Lucian is a twin but feels that he never measured up to his other twin Damian in anyone's eyes. He follows his brother into the war but decides that the Army is not for him he makes the choice to become a spy instead and fight the war on that front. Damian feels that he has taken the wrong road and turns his back on his brother. Lucian starts living his life then as if he really is a black hearted soul with no conscience.

Alice has lost her mother and father, and just recently her brother has come back from the war and dies from his injuries and now she is left with his wretched wife Caro and her nephew Harry whom she loves. It is this love for her nephew that helps Alice and Lucian's paths cross. Caro has gone to London and has plans to play the two Knight twins against each other. Even though Damian does not act like he cares for Lucian, Lucian has no qualms about looking out for Damian and lets him see Caro for what she is. A player and out for herself in all imaginable ways. Caro follows Lucian to his home down near Bath to his secret society party. Alice follows Caro there because Harry is sick and wants his mama. What happens is that Alice ends up in the Grotto and Lucian thinks that she is a spy out to kill him.

Of course there is more that goes on but the end result is that Lucian sees something in Alice that he has not found in his life someone that cares regardless of the circumstances. He makes a deal with her he will let Caro go home to Harry if Alice stays for a week. He promises that nothing will happen she just needs to keep him company. She stays and finds not only herself but also her best friend and Lucian finds his salvation.

This is a very romantic story with plenty of emotional moments. Lucian allows himself to be seen not only as a strong hero but also as a human when he lets down his own emotional guards down. There were many tender moments between Alice and Lucian and these moments were not between the sheets. The second book in the Knight family series is wonderful and you don't want to miss it.

Summary: It'll make you want to fall in love all over again...
Review: First off, I'd like to say that I have read a LOT of historical romance novels.. McNaught, Kat Martin, Deveraux.. and Foley is, by far, THE VERY BEST. This book is excellent. Lucien will melt your heart.. an excellent read, and one that I would recommend to anyone who reads historicals.

Summary: Lord of Fire
Review: Lucien is the twin brother of Damien in Lord of Ice. Both books are a must read. He is as sexy as the get and there is a lot of great sex in this book. But the story plot is wonderful and enough in itself to keep you interested. You can see a great love developing and there is danger to the characters. I rarely give a book a 5 star rating but gave it to both of these.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Best One in the Series
Review: If only a Lucien Knight really existed! I have a penchant for bad boy heroes, and Lucien certainly fits the bill. He is, without a doubt, one of the sexiest romance novel heroes ever created. I love the contrast between him and Alice (the heroine), who is considered a "goody-two-shoes," but has a passionate streak that only Lucien recognizes. Their first meeting is definitely the sexiest first meeting in any romance novel I've ever read. I love the fact that he asks her twice, "Shall I come to you tonight?" Alice, you have much more willpower than I would have!

The plot is exciting. Lucien is so passionately in love with Alice that your heart will start beating fast at some of the things he says to her. As usual in Foley's romances, the sex scenes are super steamy, yet beautiful.

I usually don't keep romance novels because they're so much alike, I just don't want to clutter my bookshelf. However, I definitely kept this one as it's one of the best romances I've ever read.
